Job Summary:

Under minimal supervision, performs a variety of work activities while providing customer service in the operation of a recreational, historic or natural resource park; interprets natural features of the area, or historic objects/artifacts for visitors; and ensures public safety by enforcing Park rules and regulations. - This position will serve as a team leader for grounds-keeping activities, forest management, and equipment maintenance and repair, watercraft and heavy equipment operator.

Job Duties:

Outdoor Recreation & Programs:
- Host visitors, help train staff and volunteers, conduct interpretive programs, and lead guided walks or hikes.
- Provides information in response to visitor questions, direction, guidance, and concerns.
- Update social media Facebook page and create interpretive videos to promote the park, nature, and conservation.

Customer Service:
- Provides customer service by phone and in-person and respond to public inquiries about park hours, accommodations, and reservations.

Cash Handling:
- Perform cashier duties at Contact Station/Gift Shop.
- Collect and account for fees for park admission and store purchases.

Maintenance:
- Serve as the primary team leader in performing basic maintenance and inspection of park infrastructure, buildings and equipment for the park.
- Troubleshoot, repair and install restroom fixtures/toilets, build fences, perform trail maintenance, general plumbing, preventative maintenance, landscaping, minor electrical repairs/troubleshooting, oil changes/fluid maintenance of equipment, and small engine and watercraft maintenance and repair.

Public & Staff Safety:
- Promote the safety of park visitors, enforce park rules, protect park resources, utilize two-way radio communications system, confers with local officials and law enforcement officers, completes all necessary reports concerning incidents.
- Assists park management with maintaining/inspecting park infrastructure and training implementation/development.

Reporting:
- Completes reports regarding activities, transactions and progress relating to maintenance activities.

Lead and assist in training subordinate staff.

Other duties as assigned as related to the position.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities (KSAs):

Knowledge of:
- Principles and processes for providing customer and personal services.
- Park rules, fees and revenue functions.
-Techniques for display and interpretation of objects/artifacts and general/natural resources to visitors; working knowledge of maintenance strategies, volunteer service, and general office procedures.

Skill in:
- Maintenance and inspection of park infrastructure.
- Buildings and equipment,including general plumbing skills,landscaping and electrical troubleshooting and repair, preventive maintenance of chainsaws, and small engine repairs.
- Driving and operating automotive equipment including UTV's, skid steer, loader and backhoe.
- Watercraft operation and maintenance.
- General construction/building maintenance and repair Multi tasking, basic curatorial techniques, multi-tasking.
-Working around and with volunteers; and de-escalation techniques.

Ability to:
- Research of natural or historical information.
- Performing math calculations.
- First aid techniques.
- Oral and written communications.
- Interpersonal relationships.
- Perform small engine and, equipment and building repair and maintenance.
