Software Senior Engineer / Software Principal Engineer – Tactical Solutions

 

Ball Aerospace is looking to expand our team with a talented and energetic software engineers focused on delivering high-quality, system software and associated test infrastructure. This position supports a portfolio of tactical, space-based, and airborne systems. Technology areas include C/C++, Embedded Linux, real-time embedded systems, Containerization, CI/CD, Python, among others.

 

What You’ll Do:

 

• Provide technical leadership, mentorship, and oversight to a team of cross-discipline engineers.
• Assist with identifying critical skill needs and work with the software department and program management to fill those needs.
• Facilitate software to FPGA interface coordination and work with teams to implement defined interface design.
• Ability to understand algorithmic components of the system and translate to executable code to accomplish mission goals.
• Support multiple types of software development including embedded, test, and application software for space-based or tactical systems.
• Perform full software life cycle functions including requirements, architecture, design, code, test, integration, documentation, and support.
• Work collaboratively in a team environment with both internal and external customers to maintain a positive and productive work environment.
• Mentor junior engineers and lead small teams, including decomposing and assigning tasks, reviewing work products, and tracking and reporting status.

• Maintain a regular and predictable work schedule.
• Establish and maintain effective working relationships within the department, the Strategic Business Units, Strategic Capabilities Units and the Company. Interact appropriately with others in order to maintain a positive and productive work environment.

What You’ll Need:

 

• Engineer Senior - BS/BA degree or higher in Engineering or a related field is required plus 8 or more years related experience.
• Engineer Principal - BS/BA degree or higher in Engineering or a related field is required plus 12 or more years related experience.
• Each higher-level degree, i.e., Master’s Degree or Ph.D., may substitute for two years of experience. Related technical experience may be considered in lieu of education. Degree must be from a university, college, or school which is accredited by an agency recognized by the US Secretary of Education, US Department of Education.
• A current, active Secret security clearance is required.

• Experience in designing, developing, and testing software for systems using programming languages such as C, C++, or Ada.
