BWXT’s Nuclear Operations Group - Lynchburg is currently seeking a Filler Engineering Unit Manager for its Lynchburg, VA location!
The Filler Engineering Unit Manager will be responsible for leading a team of engineers with ownership of the filler manufacturing process.
Essential Functions/Responsibilities:
- Owns product quality and schedules.
- Ensures license to work issues are addressed in a timely manner.
- Maintains direct customer contact and interaction relative to product concerns and problem solving.
- Collaborates with other departments to resolve technical concerns.
- Establishes budget and maintains expenses.
- Approves technical submittals, drawings, procedures, process routings, and schedule planning.
- Creates engineering and shop manpower estimates.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications:
- A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Physics is required.
- Must possess at least five (5) years of leadership or supervisory experience. This can be informal leadership and could include, but is not limited to, lead positions, previous management roles in other companies, and/or volunteer leadership experience.
- Must be able to demonstrate superior written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Proven analytical and creative problem-solving abilities is required.
- Ability to work in a team-oriented, collaborative environment is required.
- Must be highly self-motivated and directed, with keen attention to detail.
- Ability to prioritize and execute tasks in a rapidly changing environment is required.
- Must be a US Citizen with no dual citizenship.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) clearance.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous supervisory/leadership experience in a relevant field. This could include, but is not limited to, lead positions, previous management roles in other companies, and/or volunteer leadership experience.
- Previous Filler/Element experience is strongly desired.
The base salary range for this position in Virginia (US-VA) at the start of employment is expected to be between $92,000 and $124,000 per year. However, the base salary offered is based on local job market factors, and may vary further depending on factors specific to the selected job candidate, such as job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and other objective business considerations. Subject to these considerations, the total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, such as an annual cash incentive in addition to a full range of medical, retirement, and/or other benefits. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided at such time the selected job candidate receives an offer of employment. If hired, the selected job candidate will be employed 'at-will,’ unless employed at a location and in a position subject to a collective bargaining agreement. The company further reserves the right to modify base salary (as well as any other discretionary payment, compensation or benefit program) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, company or individual department/team performance, and other market factors.
