The Senior Director of Strategy for the Robotic Surgical Technologies (RST) Operating Unit (OU) will lead global strategic planning for robotic-assisted surgical procedures. This role, embedded within the global business unit, will collaborate with Marketing, Finance, Sales, R&D, Regulatory, Quality, Operations, and other cross-functional partners to build and execute strategies that align with our overall business objectives.
Preferred locations for this role would be either Boston, MA, or Lafayette, CO; Remote is also a possibility.
A Day in the Life
Strategic Planning: Lead the annual and long-term strategic planning process for the RST OU, aligning departmental goals with overall company objectives and market needs. Collaborate with executives to define the company’s strategic narrative, creating a roadmap for growth.
Market and Competitive Intelligence: Conduct in-depth market research to identify new opportunities, competitive landscape, emerging trends, and regulatory changes to inform strategic decisions in the robotic assisted surgery market. Provide data-driven insights to guide decision-making and prioritize growth opportunities and market expansion.
Business Development and Partnerships: Identify and assess potential partnerships, mergers, and acquisitions to expand the company’s market reach and capabilities. Build relationships with key stakeholders, including clinicians, hospitals, and other industry players, to foster collaborations that enhance product and market value.
Product and Technology Strategy: Collaborate with Marketing, R&D, and Operations teams to align product development with strategic goals, ensuring innovation meets market and patient needs. Develop strategies that capitalize on new technologies, patient safety, and regulatory standards.
Financial and Operational Analysis: Partner with Finance to develop financial models, forecasts, and performance metrics to evaluate and support strategic initiatives. Evaluate the effectiveness of strategic initiatives and adjust strategies based on performance metrics and market changes.
Leadership and Team Development: Build and mentor a high-performing team of strategic planners, analysts, and business development professionals. Foster a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous learning within the team and across the organization.
Customer and Patient Centric Approach: Ensure all strategies and initiatives prioritize the needs of customers and patients, enhancing patient outcomes and satisfaction. Gather and analyze customer feedback to refine strategic initiatives.
Must Have: Minimum Requirements
Requires advanced management and leadership knowledge to lead cross-department project teams or manage across multiple functions.
Typically has achieved mastery within a specific technical or broad expertise across multiple related disciplines.
Requires a Baccalaureate degree (or for degrees earned outside of the United States, a degree which satisfies the requirements of 8 C.F.R. § 214.2(h)( 4)(iii)(A) and minimum of 15 years of relevant experience with 10+ years of managerial experience , or advanced degree with a minimum 13 years prior relevant experience, minimum of 10 years of managerial experience.
Nice to Have
The Medical Device industry experience- knowledge of new product development, DRM, clinical trial management, quality systems, global regulatory experience.
Experience developing solutions for surgeons – specifically using open, laparoscopic, endoscopic and/or robotic approaches
