- Job Description/Duties
- The Office of the President is seeking a creative and motivated student assistant to support social media and marketing efforts, as well as provide essential office assistance. This role offers hands-on experience in content creation, digital engagement, and campaign execution. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, has a passion for storytelling, and understands social media trends. This opportunity is an excellent opportunity to experience a variety of areas of marketing, content writing, and social media while working in a professional higher education setting.
Duties include but are not limited to:- Assist in planning, creating and scheduling content for president's social media platforms (Instagram, Linkedln).
- Capture and edit photos/videos for digital marketing campaigns and social posts.
- Support on-site social media coverage and live updates for events the president is part of.
- Write compelling captions keeping the University's tone and president's voice in mind.
- Engage with online communities by responding to comments, messages and mentions.
- Help monitor social media trends and analyze performance metrics/data to optimize content and engagement.
- Collaborate with the Office of Strategic Communications and Marketing's social media team to brainstorm ideas and opportunities to share and elevate student voices on president's account.
- Represent the Office of the President team at campus wide student resource events.
- Serve as a brand ambassador, including appearing on camera for social content.
- Assist with front line communication, greet visitors timely and professionally.
- Assist with answering telephones and accurately take messages or direct calls as needed.
- Assist with sorting incoming mail and make on-campus deliveries as needed.
- Assist with data entry, filing, and clerical projects (such as organizing and creating binders).
- Assist with scheduling availability for the President's Office Conference Room.
- Provide support to the Operations Specialist, Director of Presidential Initiatives, Chief of Staff, and the Presidential Aide.
- Prepare and track hospitality forms, Office of Information Technology (OIT) work order forms, Facilities
Services forms, etc. - Draft and proofread correspondence.
- Assist with various research projects.
- Provide basic troubleshooting with technology (photocopier, printers, iPads, computers, etc.)
- Keep front office, conference room and supply room organized/clean.
- Assist/prep for campus-wide events such as Fall/Spring Welcome Address and Commencement.
- Assist with President's Office events, such as designing fliers, creating presentations and assisting with
room setup. - Other duties as assigned.
- Qualifications
- Preferred Qualifications:
- Photography or video editing skills are a bonus.
- Working knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite and Microsoft Office software.
- Strong writing and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
- Ability to communicate in a professional manner with campus community contacts, greater community members, including current and potential donors.
- Self-motivated, good organizational skills, detail-oriented, ability to prioritize, multi-task and meet deadlines.
- Experience working on-campus.
- Available to work a minimum of a 4-hour time block.
Required Qualifications:- Undergraduate students must be registered/enrolled in a minimum of six (6) Fall/Spring units.
- Must have received and accepted Financial Aid award for the current semester/year in which you are applying.
- Undergraduate students must be registered/enrolled in a minimum of six (6) fall/spring units.
- Post-baccalaureate students in a graduate program must be registered in a minimum of four (4) Fall/Spring units.
- Demonstrates excellent verbal communication, listening and customer service skills.
