Senior Software Engineer, Multi Cloud CDN - Seattle

Responsibilities

Our Content Distribution Networks (CDN) team operates on a hybrid platform that integrates both commercial CDN vendors and ByteDance’s proprietary edge network. This platform encompasses a vast array of Points of Presence (POPs) around the world, hosting edge services like traffic acceleration, CDN caching, gaming, and more. We are looking for experienced reliability and performance engineers to ensure the stability and reliability of our edge services and products running on our hybrid CDN platform. This role will also involve optimizing performance and developing innovative solutions to meet the evolving business demands at the edge.

As a Senior Software Engineer for ByteDance's Multi-Cloud CDN, you will be responsible for the architecture design, R&D, and continuous optimization of our Multi-Cloud CDN platform. This includes developing and optimizing systems for configuration management, data analysis, content management, and scheduling. Your work will ensure efficient business access and support flexible and configurable scheduling strategies to optimize TikTok's global traffic management.

Responsibilities:
1. Design and develop the architecture of the Multi-Cloud CDN middle platform solution.
2. Design and develop systems such as configuration management, data analysis, content management, and scheduling within the Multi-Cloud CDN platform.
3. Develop and optimize the Multi-Cloud CDN scheduling system, covering DNS, SDK, 302, and HTTPDNS scheduling.
4. Construct an intelligent scheduling system to optimize global traffic management based on business scenarios, resource levels, cost control, service quality, and transmission protocols.
5. Continuously improve the performance and reliability of the Multi-Cloud CDN platform.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:
1. Bachelor's degree in computer science, electronics and communication, mathematics, physics, or related fields.
2. Proficiency in one or two programming languages, such as C/C++, Go, Python, Java, or PHP, within a Linux environment.
3. Solid technical foundation with experience in API/platform design and a strong understanding of network protocols, storage, and message queues.
4. Proficiency in CDN working principles.
5. Strong communication skills, with demonstrated execution ability and effective teamwork spirit.

Preferred Requirements:
1. Extensive experience in API/platform design, showcasing a deep understanding of network protocols, storage systems, and message queues.
2. Experience in CDN system design and development, with a proven track record in optimizing and troubleshooting CDN infrastructures.

【For Pay Transparency】Compensation Description (Annually)

The base salary range for this position in the selected city is $137200 - $330000 annually.​

Compensation may vary outside of this range depending on a number of factors, including a candidate’s qualifications, skills, competencies and experience, and location. Base pay is one part of the Total Package that is provided to compensate and recognize employees for their work, and this role may be eligible for additional discretionary bonuses/incentives, and restricted stock units.​
