Job Details:

Purpose

Provide advanced technical solutions and support for the Environmental Sciences Laboratory (ESL).

Responsibilities

• Provide system administrative services for multiple and varied Windows and Linux environments.

• Test, implement and support advanced technological solutions to meet new project requirements.

• Ensure current operational and performance requirements are met.

• Administer system services, including Active Directory, DNS, SSSD, samba and NFS file serving capabilities in a heterogeneous network.

• Act as an escalation point for end user technical support.

• Deploy, maintain and support Linux and Windows operating systems that satisfy the requirements of the Risk Management Framework (RMF).

• Perform and analyze periodic vulnerability scans with patching and other remediation of vulnerabilities.

• Design, configure, and support networks using Cisco and Dell devices.

• Support storage solutions using fiber channel including fiber switches.  Working knowledge of zoning.

• Other related functions as assigned.

Required Qualifications

• HS/GED

• Nine years of experience administering Linux and Windows. 

• High proficiency in Redhat Linux, Windows and Active Directory.  Experience using Redhat Linux with Active Directory.  Comfortable with Samba and NFS.

• Working knowledge of networking concepts such as subnetting, VLANs, routing, trunking, and ACLs.

• Experience with deploying and troubleshooting SAN technologies.

• Ability to assess security posture by identifying and mitigating vulnerabilities by running SCAP scans, applying STIGs and using Nessus

• Solid ability to troubleshoot and repair systems issues.

• Familiarity with scripting and automation tools.

• Applicant must be comfortable learning and working with new technologies, be highly organized and capable of planning and handling multiple tasks at the same time.

• The position will require attention to detail, effective problem-solving skills and excellent judgment.

• Must hold a DoD 8570.01 approved certification to satisfy an IAT Level 2 or higher certification, or must be willing to obtain certification(s) within 120 days from hire date.

• Work independently with sensitive information. Maintain a professional demeanor. Work as a team member without daily supervision and communicate effectively.

• Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.

US Citizen. Applicant selected will be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information at the level appropriate to the project requirements of the position.

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelors of Computer Science with seven or more years of system administration and network experience.

• Solid knowledge of Linux shell commands and scripting languages such as Bash or Python.

• Experience with bringing new switches into existing networks and building configurations to make them function.  Capable of applying STIGs to network equipment.

• Experience with Vulnerability Scanners such as OpenSCAP, SCAP Scanner,  Nessus, etc.

• Experience in Virtualization with Hyper-V and VMware vSphere.

• Experience in deploying and supporting DoD secured networks.

• Experience with Risk Management Framework and/or DISA IA controls.

• Eligibility for immediate access to classified information.

• Currently holds a current DoD 8570.01 IAT Level II approved certification.
