JOB PURPOSE

The Data Architecture Manager will play a pivotal role in shaping our development, delivery and ownership of the overall strategic data architecture direction and data vision of the organization. This role is responsible for developing the data governance models policies, and procedures associated with components of the data architecture which will guide IT efforts in delivery of the long-term vision. In this capacity, they will assist in establishing and sustaining a comprehensive data strategy that aligns with the organization’s goals and objectives. This role will collaborate with business stakeholders and the data practitioner community to define business needs and translate those needs into process, technology, and training requirements to ensure our data can be used as strategic assets. 

The Data Architecture Manager will help define and implement a data governance framework to ensure the appropriate use, management and protection of sensitive data and information assets and ensure compliance at the enterprise, business, and functional areas. 

Requirements

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES

• Assists and implements data architecture strategy, operations, and initiatives.
• Leads the creation of projects to improve the usability, scalability, efficiency, and security of data resources. These can include data migrations, data governance initiatives, and data management and architecture projects. 
• Ensures procedures are in place to design, develop, and test new and reconfigured data systems effectively and thoroughly. 
• Helps align data systems with broader organizational data solutions and analytics initiatives. 
• Collaborates with IT leadership in the design and development of the strategic direction and vision for the data architecture function.
• Develops and maintains overall data architecture in alignment with the overall IT vision, supporting the information needs of the business.
• Establishes and leads an enterprise data governance process to enable Sr. IT leadership to direct investment towards strategically and financially appropriate activities.
• Facilitates the sharing of data architecture best practices throughout the architecture community and the IT organization by assisting in the creation of an architecture community of practice.

Data Strategy and Architecture:

• Establish and execute an enterprise data strategy roadmap, including strategic priorities for business lines with the development of information-based capabilities.
• Serve as the functional liaison between business and functional areas and technology to ensure that data related business requirements for the protection and use of information assets are defined.
• Oversee process, technology and information initiatives that deliver defined business information requirements.
• Lead delivery of common consumption patterns, automated information assets and scaled reports and dashboards to support business needs in collaboration with technology and enterprise data product owners.
• In partnership with IT, develop and maintain information architecture data models, including a list of authoritative systems, data owners and stewards.

Data Governance

• Establish data governance frameworks and processes to ensure data integrity, consistency, and compliance with regulatory requirements. 
• Implements data quality initiatives to monitor, cleanse, and enhance data accuracy and completeness. 
• Create data and governance policies, standards, and guidelines and define indicators of performance and quality metrics against these guidelines.
