Job Duties
The Virginia Department of Taxation seeks a Revenue Accounting Senior to support the Revenue Accounting Section and their multi-billion-dollar revenue accounting activities. The main responsibilities of the position include reconciling the internal accounting system to the State’s accounting system, performing the public facility, tourism, and plastic bag distribution and approving deposits and journals keyed by staff.
This position assist with reconciling our internal accounting system to ensure all accounting for tax transactions such as refunds, payments, bills, and others are correct and that all distributions to localities, state agencies and other entities are made timely and accurately. The Revenue Accountant Senior helps to ensure deposit certificates are keyed to Cardinal correctly and timely and serves as a backup to all staff in the office.
This position is in our Main Street Centre Office in downtown Richmond, Virginia.
This position is eligible for a hybrid telework schedule once fully trained.
The anticipated hiring salary is commensurate with experience, up to $71,000.

Minimum Qualifications
Knowledge and experience with governmental accounting
Experience with revenue accounting
Knowledge and experience with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
Experience with distributing funds
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and analyzing financial data
Additional Considerations
Extensive knowledge and work experience in accounting
CPA (Certified Public Accountant)
CGFM (Certified Government Financial Manager)
