JOB TITLE: Medical Assistant
SHIFT: 1.0 FTE, 80 Hours Bi-Weekly, Days

JOB SUMMARY
Provides nursing care to patients as directed by the provider utilizing the nursing process.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS AND PERFORMANCE E STANDARDS
- Exemplifies good customer service.
- Regular reliable attendance.
- Effectively communicates and gets along with others.
- Demonstrates proficient use of email.
- Accomplishes goals set for self and by nursing team leader/director.
- Completes patient care assignments as directed by provider and clinical protocol. Reports significant findings to the provider.
- Completes lab call-back form and lab log/drug screen log on all patients requiring labs.
- Completes annual check-off, including lab competency, DOT and non-DOT drug screens a d BATS as indicated. TST/CPR re-certification.
- Prepares patient/nursing areas for patient care at the beginning of the shift. Secures patient/nursing areas nightly.
- Completes daily nursing report and daily assignments.
- Proficient in retrieving CHIRP data as required.
- Proficient in EPIC including retrieving patient records, entering patient data (e-form) and locking record.
- Familiar with all disaster policies/procedures related to Urgent Care. Frequently review nursing policies in Policystat.
- Performs other duties as assigned by the Nursing Team Leader.
- Calculates KPI metric and documents on the KPI board daily.
Qualifications
Experience
- One-year previous work experience in patient care setting, preferred.
- Or completion of an externship or equivalent training in a medical office or hospital setting.
Skills/Competencies
- Strong communication and computer skills.
- Good working knowledge of medical terminology, pharmacology, and basic procedures.
Education Required
- Must be a high school graduate or equivalent with GED.
- Must have completed at least one year of education as a medical assistant.
- Must be able to sit for CMA certification exam within 12 months of being hired.
License Requirement
- None
Certifications Required or Preferred
- BLS or ability to obtain in one (1) month from date of hire.
