Position Overview

The Corrections Maintenance Craftsman position, located at the Southwestern Illinois Correctional Center will be an integral part of the maintenance team performing journey level maintenance and repair at the facility. The primary role of the Corrections Maintenance Craftsman is to inspect and identify equipment, machines, or grounds in need of repair and troubleshoot issues to determine necessary repairs. Essential Functions

• Performs maintenance work at a journeyman level in repair and upkeep of facility equipment, machinery, and grounds.
• Performs preventative maintenance per the routine maintenance schedule.
• Supervises and directs individuals in custody performing corrective maintenance and preventative maintenance and making small repairs in shop in Maintenance Department.
• Maintains vehicle fleet and documentation associated with vehicle fleet maintenance.
• Reports infractions of rules by individuals in custody and employees and other significant matters to supervisor for action. 
• Maintains a daily count of tools assigned.
• Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above.
