What Impact You’ll Make
Within Gas Turbine Engineering (GTE), our Design Liaison Engineering team is centered on providing design engineering support to our global supply chain partners. We work with an unwavering sense of urgency, quality, and innovation. Our team serves as the bridge between supply chain manufacturing and design engineering groups – we maintain high technical rigor to ensure quality of the product is not compromised while working with the sense of urgency that is needed by supply chain and our customers.

The Lead Engineer will be dedicated to rotor hardware across all flavors of GTs that GE Vernova offers, at least in some capacity. They will have technical ownership of components such as compressor wheels, turbine wheels, shafts, cover plates, and/or bolting. This is a hands-on role requiring strong collaboration with interfacing teams such as quality, suppliers, and other engineering functions. They will be responsible for delivering optimal solutions for our customers and will have a focus on items like driving defect reduction, qualifications, analyzing and dispositioning deviant hardware (NCNs and SDRs), performing hand calculations and detailed analyses, owning specific actions related to engineering drawing revisions, applying lean principals to drive productivity and in general – helping to solve some of the biggest challenges we face in manufacturing these complex GT components and assemblies.

Job Description

What you’ll do

  • Deliver high quality solutions to address deviant hardware and design support for CAs to help reduce or prevent repeat incidents.
  • Conceive innovative ideas to solve rotor manufacturing and design problems.
  • Leverage hand calculations, CAD, and Finite Element Analysis (FEA) models for analysis supporting dispositions to deviant hardware, redesign efforts, and drawing revisions to support improved manufacturability.
  • Execute GT rotor qualifications with appropriate technical rigor to ensure our qualified Global Supply Chain can consistently manufacture parts that are conforming to engineering definition
  • Conduct technical reviews for design tasks with Controlled Title Holders (CTHs). Evaluate and mitigate component, assembly, and/or system level risks.
  • Build and execute standard work, QMS standards, and design templates for common issues encountered for specific components/assemblies. Identify creative ways to improve and create our processes, design methods, and manufacturing methods.
  • Maintain strong relationships with supply chain teams. Keep abreast of new NTI, NPI, and emerging fleet services issues.
  • Drive technical rigor and integrity in all aspects of design and post-design work.
  • Collaborate with cross functional teams including Global Supply Chain, external suppliers, Quality, GTE NPI Design, MPE, PDE, Controlled Title Holders, Systems, Performance, Repair, Heat Transfer, etc.

What you’ll bring

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering from an accredited university or college and at least 4 years of relevant experience.
  • Ability to handle US-export controlled information.

What will make you stand out

  • Relevant experience designing gas turbine hardware or similar rotating machinery.
  • Proficient with Ansys, NX, and other analytical tools.
  • Experience in programming with Python, VBA, and/or other languages.
  • Understanding of GD&T and ability to interpret engineering drawings & BoMs.
  • Strong organizational & communication skills.
  • Demonstrated capability in collaborating in a cross functional global organization.
  • Humble, open-minded, self-motivated, and a continuous learner.
  • Ability to rapidly shift day to day priorities based on emerging business needs.
