Position: Senior Data Scientist

Job Location:  221 River Street, Hoboken, NJ 07030

Duties: Drive the design and development of innovative ML models and optimization solutions, focusing on retail core domains such as fulfillment, operations, merchandising, finance, conversational AI, and eCommerce in the marketplace business. Build advanced machine learning, deep learning, and generative AI models with various applications in the marketplace, such as customer targeting, personalized recommendation, and self-service analytics chatbot development. Select appropriate ML modeling techniques for complex problems with large-scale data. Develop and iterate on features collaboratively with business partners. Establish best practices for model building, evaluation, scalability, deployment, monitoring, and interpretability. Run large-scale statistical A/B testing and causal inference frameworks to evaluate the effect of business strategy in the marketplace and eCommerce space. Work closely with the analytics and engineering teams to inform, drive, and accelerate innovations in discovery experiences through insights, frameworks, causal inference solutions, and both traditional and cutting-edge machine learning prototypes. Guide end-to-end project execution, from researching, brainstorming, and data collection to model prototyping and deployment, while effectively communicating with stakeholders and cross-functional partners.

Minimum education and experience required: Master’s degree or equivalent in Statistics, Economics, Analytics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering (any), or related field and 1 year of experience in an analytics related field; OR Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Statistics, Economics, Analytics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering (any), or related field and 3 years of experience in an analytics or related field.

Skills required: Experience sourcing, cleaning, manipulating, and analyzing large volumes of data using a distributed computing platform: Python, R, SQL, Spark, or Hive. Experience with traditional and cutting-edge modern machine learning models, including Regression, Classification, Ensemble Methods, Deep Learning, Natural Language Processing, Transformers, Reinforcement Learning, LLM, and Generative AI. Experience with statistical techniques, including hypothetical testing, ANOVA, Chi-square testing, A/B testing, and Causal Inference. Experience with end-to-end modeling projects emerging from research efforts. Experience testing, detecting, and correcting data anomalies and automating the troubleshooting process using statistical analysis and Python. Experience executing big data analysis using SQL, Hive, or Hadoop. Experience using statistical inference and Probability Theory to execute data analysis and support executive requests. Experience building ML/DL forecasting models using Python. Experience building dashboards using Rshiny, Tableau, Python, and PowerBI. Experience with data analytics for marketplace business growth, providing data insights and solutions, problem formation with big data analysis, automation techniques, and scalability. Experience with the retail and marketplace domain, including fulfillment, pricing, or assortment. Experience using Microsoft software to generate strategic reports and influence marketplace business decisions in the retail industry.
