ORB 624.01 (Formerly ORB 408) Business Law, 1.5 CU
Summer Term 2025
Course meets for 4 weeks: In-Person Wednesdays 6/25 - 7/16, 6:00pm - 10:00pm
2.75 hours Asynchronous Content required.
Location: Moraga campus
This course introduces students to the legal and regulatory systems that affect the collection, analysis and use of data, and basic legal concepts that affect businesses. The subjects include Federal and State regulations that dictate the proper methods by which data may be collected, stored and transmitted; privacy matters; antitrust regulations; business and contractual dealings among data vendors; licensing and intellectual property issues, and the proper use of data in various industries.
Students will learn how to identify, comply with, and navigate, constantly changing laws that regulate data analysis and use.

Qualifications
- Ph.D. degree in Organizational Behavior, Management, Leadership, Strategy or a closely related field, a recent publication record in business ethics and/or social responsibility, and experience teaching business ethics and/or social responsibility.
OR
- A Master’s degree in Organizational Behavior, Management, Leadership, Strategy or a closely related field, five years of current, relevant professional experience, and experience teaching business ethics and/or social responsibility.

Candidates must perform all course-related work within the state of California
The salary range for this position is $6,480 -$10,008 dependent on qualifications. The salary range for this position is covered by the Collective Bargaining Agreement between the College and SEIU, Local 1021, available here.
Please note that courses will be assigned to current qualified adjunct faculty members who apply during the first 14 days of the posting in the following order:
1. Seniority of those who have taught the course previously up to their average.
2. Seniority of those who have not taught the course up to their average.
3. Seniority rotation above their average up to seven (7) course values.
If the course is not assigned to a current qualified adjunct faculty member under the process above, it may be assigned to a new hire after the 14 day period for current adjunct faculty members to apply has elapsed.
