Summary
The Smart Logistics Engineer is responsible for designing and implementing advanced logistics and transportation solutions that enhance operational efficiency and enable intelligent, automated workflows. By combining hardware automation and software-driven intelligence, this role supports the continuous improvement of GLOVIS’ core processes through scalable systems, smart integration, and data-informed decision-making. The position plays a vital role in reducing complexity, increasing system reliability, and enabling more agile and sustainable operations across logistics and transportation networks.
Responsibilities
• Primary
• Lead the end-to-end implementation of smart logistics systems, with a strong focus on system-level automation and integration across fulfillment operations
• Lead and oversee the continuous optimization of the Warehouse Control System (WCS) to ensure efficient coordination between hardware, robotics platforms, and integrated software systems
• Spearhead hardware automation initiatives by identifying, evaluating, and deploying advanced robotics, autonomous mobile robots (AMRs), conveyors, drones, and related technologies to improve operational efficiency
• Lead the definition and deployment of intelligent software systems that support predictive, adaptive, and data-informed decision-making across logistics operations and support adoption across subsidiaries
• Conduct research, vendor assessments, and Proof-of-Concept (POC) initiatives for emerging technologies, driving successful transition from prototype to scalable deployment
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams — including engineering, operations, and IT — to define technical requirements and deliver automation solutions aligned with business goals
• Translate complex business needs into repeatable and scalable automation solutions that can be adopted across sites and shared within the global organization
• Source and manage enterprise IT platforms — such as WMS, TMS, CRM, and MS365 — that align with GLOVIS’ business requirements and strategic logistics initiatives
• Keep up with emerging technologies and business trends — such as mobility, digital transformation, forwarding connectivity, and autonomous logistics — and apply them to IT strategies that enable business growth and success
• Deliver value-added content and solutions for internal stakeholders by introducing new processes, best practices, and technical insights based on POCs, case studies, and global IT benchmarks
• Support the piloting and implementation of digitally-enabled logistics models (e.g., used car logistics, trading, e-business) that contribute to GLOVIS’ incremental growth and service differentiation
• Proactively identify RPA opportunities across GLOVIS’ subsidiaries and business functions; define technical and operational requirements, coordinate development, validate deployment, and ensure stable operation and long-term adoption
• Gather and consolidate data from diverse internal and external sources, and structure it in a format suitable for system design validation, performance analysis, or strategic decision-making
• Secondary
• Support planning and governance of IT and logistics projects by establishing milestones, managing dependencies, and ensuring the execution of directives in alignment with GH management direction and the company's broader IT strategy
• Oversee core project elements—scope, schedule, quality, human resources, and cost—while maintaining structured communication with GH headquarters and subsidiaries
• Lead annual project evaluations and status reporting, ensuring visibility to executive leadership and enabling strategic course correction when necessary
• Propose and coordinate exploratory projects that assess new technologies and business models aligned with GH’s operational needs and innovation roadmap
• Drive continuous improvement through business process analysis, issue identification, and structured problem-solving
