Job Description

AECOM is on the lookout for a talented and visionary Waterfront Structural Engineer to help shape the future of coastal infrastructure. This opportunity is available in several vibrant Florida locations: Jacksonville, Tampa, Orlando/Canaveral, or the Miami–Fort Lauderdale area.

Responsibilities:

Design:

As a Waterfront Structural Engineer, the appropriately qualified applicant will be part of a team responsible for the design of small to large-scale Ports & Marine projects:

Structural Engineer:

  • Conduct/ manage engineering structural design as the supervisor and/or lead structural engineer.
  • Create or review designs, calculations, sketches, diagrams, schematic drawings, and final working drawings.
  • Collects and analyzes data.
  • Use computer software as a tool for solving basic and complex engineering problems.
  • Perform work in accordance with agreed upon budget and schedule.
  • Review of the calculations and work prepared by other teams.
  • Mentor junior staff

Project Management:

  • Manages one or more complex projects involving a full spectrum of engineering services offered by AECOM.
  • Provides project and technical task management for one or more simultaneous projects.
  • Identifies problems, determines accuracy and relevance of information, uses sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives, and makes recommendations.
  • Good presentation and communication skills in English. Good report and proposal writing skills.
  • Will assist leadership in developing new client relationships and to strengthen existing client relationships. Will identify, understand and focus on clients’ key requirements.

 

     

    Qualifications

    Minimum:

    • BS in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering or Maritime Engineering with 8 years of related experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education
    • Professional Engineer Registration with the ability to attain a Florida Professional Engineer Registration within 6 months.
    • Experience leading/ managing structural design projects
    • Experience with computer aided design (AutoCAD).
    • Due to the nature of projects involved U.S. Citizenship is required for this position.

    Preferred:

    • Previous marine structural design experience.
    • Previous experience in leading projects meeting required quality, timeliness, and budget parameters.
    • Project Management experience in marine terminal related infrastructure.
    • Previous experience in maintaining client relationships.
    • Experienced in planning, design, and construction management.
    • Previous experience with United States Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) and Naval Facilities Engineering Systems Command (NAVFAC) planning and design.
    • Proficiency in presentations and communications in English. To include but not limited to report and proposal writing skills.
    • Client Relationships: Experience assisting in developing new client relationships and strengthen existing client relationships. Including
