Orbital Engineering, Inc. is currently seeking a Senior Engineer with Natural Gas Transmission and Distribution experience to support our Utility Services group in our Hammond, IN office.

Responsibilities include:

• Function as a project lead on specific projects as required.
• Experience using and selecting piping specifications for natural gas infrastructure.
• Experience with piping flexibility, piping stress, and piping support design.
• Experience in and application of CFR192 and other applicable standards/specifications such as ASME B31.8, AGA, NACE, etc.
• Completing all tasks in accordance with design and project execution procedures and guidelines, as set forth in Orbital’s corporate Quality Management System.
• Performing engineering studies, reports, calculations, detailed design documents & specifications, and project cost estimates; providing installation support services.
• Providing technical support for customers and supporting regional business development initiatives as a technical resource.
• Mentor other Natural Gas engineers and designers as the discipline lead and at times functioning as a project manager.
• Interfacing directly with clients or a client’s representative, as needed, on current or prospective projects.

• This position will include some field engineering work and short duration of travel will be expected from time to time.

Minimum Requirements:

• BS Civil/Mechanical/Electrical Engineering preferred, or an equivalent combination of education and prior industry experience.
• Minimum of ten (10) to fifteen (15) years of prior relevant engineering experience is required

• Thorough understanding of and aptitude for the use of current computer software, including general office products and design & business enterprise software. 
• Must have good interpersonal and client-facing skills.
• Must have effective written and oral communication, reasoning skills and ability to solve practical problems, and task management between multiple engineering disciplines.
• This position requires the ability to pass a post-offer drug (including marijuana) and alcohol test in compliance with Federal regulations and is also subject to random testing as a condition of continued employment.
