Job/Department Summary:

Under general supervision of the Philosophy department chair, incumbent works independently providing essential front line administrative support to the Philosophy (PHIL) Department, while also sharing support duties to the Comparative Religion and Humanities (CORH) Department and the Languages and Cultures (LANC) Department in specific areas, providing continuity and stability to the departments. Duties include administrative support, faculty & student recruitment, and providing lead work direction to student assistants. Incumbent acts as the first point of contact for the Philosophy department, providing customer service to students, visitors and the campus community at large.

Required Education and Experience:

This position requires fully functional knowledge of and skill in standard office procedures and practices, as well as an ability to understand and operate in a variety of organizational structures.  These qualifications, and those listed above, would normally be obtained through completion of a high school program, technical/vocational program, or their equivalents combined with three years of related office work experience. 

Preferences:

Preference may be given to applicants with the following as they may be considered specialized skills: 

  • Experience with office programs including Microsoft Office Suite
  • Experience providing lead work direction to student assistants
  • Experience with monitoring budgets

Time Base: Full-time

Pay Plan: 11/12

Work Schedule: Mon-Fri 8:00am-5:00pm, Summer: Mon-Thurs 7:00am-5:30pm 

CSU Classification Salary Range:  $44,520 - $64,860 per year.

Additional Information:
