Role and Responsibilities

The Logistics Strategy & Planning team’s Logistics Strategy Sr. Manager role is responsible for designing and implementing innovative solutions for Samsung’s Warehouse, Inventory and Outbound Transportation Operations. This role has daily visibility with top management and is responsible for coordinating across teams and leading cross-functional activities to ensure Warehouse and Transportation Operations continue to effectively perform with cost efficiency and as best in class.  Effective communication and coordination with Warehouse teams, including warehouse 3PL service providers, Transportation teams, and other teams within Samsung, for example Customer Account Management and Supply Chain teams, is required.

Key responsibilities of this role include designing efficient Warehouse/Outbound operations processes (receiving, loading/unloading, inventory storage and movement and tracking, supporting technologies for the warehouse - RF guns/ printers/ networks, fulfillment, pick, pack, GI, BOL, POD, bin management, aging inventory, transportation planning, transportation carriers, on-time pickup, on-time delivery, middle mile, last mile, parcel tracking, eCommerce transportation, returns), supporting new warehouse setup or warehouse transitions, planning and facilitating Warehouse/ Outbound operations process design workshops, communicating to leadership risks and gaps of current design, documenting business designs for systems changes and implementations, KPI reviews and root cause analysis on warehouse/inventory performance issues, performing project management activities for Warehouse/Inventory systems implementations which include project setup through go live and support monitoring, and leading benchmarking assessments and identifying improvement areas of opportunity.  This role requires a resource that is highly skilled and can implement change quickly.  This role reports directly to the Director of Logistics Strategy Team.

To summarize, this role requires deep knowledge of Logistics Operations, especially in the areas of Warehouse/ Outbound, knowledge of the Consumer Electronics and Home Appliance industries, expert in ERP and WMS systems, and an ability to quickly collect and resolve process and system issues.

  • Designing and implementing efficient Warehouse/ Outbound operations processes
  • Supporting new warehouse setup or warehouse transitions
  • Planning and facilitating Warehouse/Inventory operations process design and workshops
  • Monitoring and managing Warehouse/ Outbound Finance related activities including claims and invoicing
  • Communicating to leadership risks and gaps of current design
  • Documenting business designs for systems changes and implementations
  • Perform detailed analysis to root cause systems and process issues 
  • Leading and managing innovation project management activities including phases design through delivery
  • Develop and facilitate cross-functional system test plans and execution in the area of Warehouse/Inventory operations
  • Leading benchmarking assessments and identifying improvement areas of opportunity, present recommendations to leadership
  • Providing expertise for other strategic projects that are Logistics related
  • Be self-motivated, organized, and operate effectively with little direction

Skills and Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required, science degree highly preferred (Business Information Management, Engineering or Supply Chain Management)
  • 10+ years of Logistics Warehouse/ Outbound experience (Operations experience is preferred, Consulting experience ok)
  • Experience with interacting with Supply Chain, Wareh
