POSITION SUMMARY: The Manager Accounting Projects and SOX Compliance is responsible for ensuring compliance with the Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) Act and the public company requirements for internal control over financial reporting. The incumbent will manage accounting projects and compliance related activities to enhance process efficiency, mitigate risks, and maintain the integrity of financial operations. The Manager Accounting Projects and SOX Compliance collaborates and interacts daily with system owners, cross-functional control owners, internal auditors, external auditors, and outside consultants. The incumbent is responsible for project management, project-based initiatives, and cross functional collaboration.
PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
Provides oversight, monitoring, and guidance to ensure the Company’s internal control over financial reporting are designed, implemented, and operating effectively.
Manages the Company’s SOX compliance program, ensuring adherence to regulatory requirements and internal control frameworks.
Engages with Accounting, IT, and cross-functional leadership to ensure alignment across departments and compliance with SOX requirements.
Updates and aligns processes, systems, controls, and policies with leading practices based on the industry standard and drives remediation efforts for any identified deficiencies.
Identifies gaps, process improvement opportunities, and efficiency enhancements and collaborates with key stakeholders to implement best practices and monitor the progress of improvement initiatives.
Works directly with the Company's internal and external auditors on audit planning and scoping, as well as the resolution of audit issues.
Designs, develops, and delivers on-going formal compliance trainings, as well as engages in informal training with process and control owners on a daily basis.
Supports special project accounting initiatives, requiring critical and abstract thinking.
Supports the External Reporting management team in cultivating an engaging environment for team members.
Coaches and develops a team of professionals to assist in their development and attainment of necessary skills to lift performance. Monitors staff performance and drives performance improvement initiatives and ensures that service levels meet or exceed agreed upon standards.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Strong understanding of the Sarbanes-Oxley Act, the 2013 COSO framework, and SEC guidance for management's assessment of internal controls over financial reporting.
Experience working with Oracle and Essbase, or similar general ledger systems, reporting tools and database tools.
Strong systems skills, including Excel (VBA), general ledger, reporting and database skills.
Strong planning, project management, and analytical skills.
Excellent leadership, interpersonal and communication abilities.
Ability to work well independently as well as collaboratively within a team of diverse individuals.
Certified Public Accountant (CPA) - preferred.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
4 - 7 years of combined public (Big 4 or Tier II National) accounting experience or public company experience.
Hands-on SOX experience including successful remediation of compliance deficiencies.
