Job Description
The Anatomic Pathology Group at our Company's South San Francisco site is seeking a passionate and talented Associate Principal Scientist with experience in bioinformatics and statistics to solve biological problems. The successful candidate will join a dynamic digital and quantitative multi-omics department to perform quantitative and statistical analysis on large-scale datasets to support novel drug and biomarker development.
Key Responsibilities:
This is an individual contributor role as a subject matter expert responsible to implement data analytical tools and apply rigorous statistical methodologies to transform complex biomarker data into insights that can be readily used in drug development.
Develop end-to-end data visualization tools and conduct spatial analyses to understand and interpret complex high-dimensional data. Perform data mining and data wrangling on large-scale datasets derived from multi-omic data (i.e. imaging, single-cell RNAseq, genomics data, flow cytometry, spatial transcriptomics) to understand target biology, mechanisms of action, and to help identify potential clinical biomarkers.
Integrate high-throughput assays, including genomics, transcriptomics, proteomics, and imaging datasets.
Collaborate proactively across disciplines, engaging with pathologists, machine learning scientists, molecular biologists, immunologists, protein scientists, bioinformaticians, and software engineers.
Qualifications:
Education:
- Ph.D. degree in the field of computational biology, informatics or related field with four (4) years of relevant work experience in Statistics, Biostatistics, Data Science or Bioinformatics
Required Experiences and Skills:
At least 4 years of professional experience in the computational analysis and biological interpretation of diverse large-scale and high-dimensional datasets
Previous experience leading projects that integrate results from multi-omics data sources to gain biological insights and drive discovery research
Evidence of developing customized analytical approaches or pipeline for specific research needs through publications or patents
Evidence of implementation of fundamental and advanced statistical techniques for non-clinical and clinical studies through publications or patents
Strong command of Python and R for application in bioinformatics
Exceptional oral and written communication skills
Preferred Experiences and Skills:
Experience leading cross functional projects within the industry setting
Familiarity with whole slide imaging (WSI) data management and image processing software such as QuPath and Definiens
Command of machine learning platforms such as TensorFlow and PyTorch
Knowledge and experience in computational analysis for image-based histological or tissue-based assay readouts
Previous experience in the experimental design
Experience in version control environments such as Git
Proficient in working with high-performance Linux clusters and cloud computing environments
