Maintenance First Line Leader

We are seeking a Maintenance First Line Leader with at the DuPont Spruance site in Richmond, VA.

The primary role of the Maintenance First Line Leader is to improve the work force productivity by supporting daily maintenance opportunities and work quality by anticipating and eliminating potential delays through planning, coordination of labor, parts and material, tools and equipment, permissions, specialized documentation, and equipment access.

They will be responsible for ensuring the safety needs are given a top priority in facilitating daily work in addition to planning and scheduling. The scope of this position consists of giving direction / assistance to our process and control mechanics. It will be necessary to interface with vendors to keep abreast of new developments and apply their expertise to solve problems.

  • Ensure work is completed per published schedule.
  • Facilitate team processes, including problem solving and issue resolution.
  • Leads or participates in EHS & Quality investigations and determines appropriate corrective action.
  • Ensures employees comply with established Standard Operating Procedures
  • Monitors and makes adjustments to controllable costs for shift (i.e. overtime, operating supplies)
  • Completes Leader Standard Work practices, including frequent line walks.
  • Initiates awards and recognition for individuals and/or teams, and celebrates area’s accomplishments.
  • Organizes and manages staffing levels to ensure adequate support for production needs. 
  • Addresses personnel issues on shift effectively. 
  • Able to provide coverage on weekends, evenings, nights, and holidays as scheduled, on a regular basis.
  • Driving safe execution of work, through evaluation and management of risks and exposures
  • Assure strict adherence to the Maintenance Work Management Process with all direct reports and prevent process work arounds.
  • Provide Maintenance Trainees with work that parallels their current training modules as to enhance their skill level.
  • Ensures that all maintenance employees comply with all applicable elements of the Maintenance Procedure Use Policy.  
  • Completes Leader Standard Work practices, including frequent line walks.
  • Assure 100% compliance with the following aspects of work execution.
    •  Individual MET and CET Mechanic Time Confirmations
    • MET and CET Entry and quality of Work Order History
    • Fully Completed Mechanic Feedback Form for Each Work Order Executed

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent required, Associate or Bachelor degree preferred
  • 5 to 7 years of industrial or military or technical /trade degree or equivalent experience in maintenance with a background of Pipefitter/Millwright
  • Electrical/Instrumentation background required
  • Digital Lean/Six Sigma skills
  • Effectively communicates expectations and direction
  • SAP knowledge
