Department Overview: 

The Corporate Communications team manages all communication activities for Nomura, including Media Relations, Internal Communications, Branding & Marketing and Community Affairs. As a member of the media relations team, you will play a role in promoting and protecting the reputation of the bank. We will look to you to deliver day-to-day promotion of the firm as well as developing and maintaining key relationships with journalists and people throughout the business, providing excellent media relations advice and support.

 

Role overview: 

Working in a busy Corporate Communications department, you will lead Nomura’s Social Impact program in the Americas region. You’ll report directly into the Head of Corporate Communications EMEA, Americas and work closely with senior internal stakeholders to lead on the development, communication, planning, management, evaluation and reporting of the Social Impact function.

 

The Nomura Group’s social impact strategy focuses on ‘building a better society’ and targets interventions through an education and employability lens. We are looking for a dynamic and passionate professional to develop, build and lead our social impact program in the Americas region. Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the development of Nomura’s Americas Social Impact strategy, ensuring alignment with our global governance and clearly communicate the key strategy objectives to our stakeholders
  • Develop and manage senior stakeholder relationships across the business to embed and enhance visibility of, and understanding about, the Americas social impact programme
  • Manage relationships with key non-profit partners in the region, ensuring effective delivery of the partnership and ongoing partnership governance
  • Oversee the Social Impact Americas budget, including monitoring and approving expenditure within certain limits
  • Work closely with internal stakeholders, including the DEI, Early Careers and Lateral Recruitment teams, to deliver strategically impactful social impact programming
  • Working with Internal Communications, oversee and approve the firm’s employee engagement activities and communications campaigns delivered in support of Social Impact Americas
  • Management of the region’s disaster response programming, including response planning, internal communications and co-ordination with global counterparts
  • Develop and manage the region’s volunteerism and fundraising programmes
  • Liaise with global counterparts to collaborate and share best practice
  • Identify opportunities to receive recognition and external endorsement through a calendar of industry awards
  • Increase engagement and visibility through the delivery of internal and external communications campaigns
  • Develop, oversee and delivery regional and global reporting analytics related to Social Impact

 

 

 

Skills, experience, qualifications and knowledge required:

  • 5+ years of experience leading a social impact program in a complex matrix organization.
