The Opportunity 

Our SRE organization is responsible for architecting and implementing resilient network infrastructure, advanced network monitoring solutions, and automation to ensure the high availability and performance of our interconnected systems. We empower our development teams with robust network observability and self-service capabilities, reducing network-related bottlenecks and accelerating application deployment without compromising network stability or security.

The Skillset 

• Senior level of experience in a Network SRE or equivalent role with a deep understanding of network monitoring, troubleshooting, and network disaster recovery strategies.

• Extensive experience in writing production-quality code for network automation and management.

• Proficiency with infrastructure as code and/or network configuration management tools (we use Terraform).

• Experience with managing network monitoring dashboards using tools like Grafana and Prometheus to create actionable network-specific alerts.

• Ability to ensure network services are running and in line with internal SLIs and SLOs for network performance and availability.

• Experience refining CI/CD processes to ensure network configurations and deployments are pushed to production in a reliable and efficient manner.

• Ability to collaborate on creating a robust network monitoring platform for our services and their underlying network infrastructure, aiming to alert on network anomalies and potential disruptions.

• Familiarity with best practices when creating and managing AWS networking resources (e.g., VPCs, security groups, Transit Gateways, Direct Connect).

The First 30 Days

• Understand our current cloud build and deployment process(overall SDLC)

• Deep dive into the architecture of the Flock system to understand how each component is interconnected 

• Overview of Terraform/IAC

• Overview of ML workflows

• Overview of SRE team charter/purpose

• Active participation in a full sprint cycle with all ceremonies the SRE team utilizes to plan work

The First 60 Days 

• Ability to perform the role with decreased need for guidance

• Ability to complete medium-sized tasks with little support

• Regularly assisting in the resolution of help-desk requests
