Job Description
The Maintenance Technician is responsible for maintaining production efficiency and product quality by ensuring the smooth operation of machinery and mechanical equipment in the production facility. This role includes equipment setup, adjustments, troubleshooting, repairs, and preventative maintenance to minimize downtime and maximize productivity.
**Key Responsibilities:**
- Perform setup, maintenance, and repair of production machinery, including ovens, packing lines, and conveyors.
- Conduct regular inspections and preventative maintenance to minimize machine downtime.
- Troubleshoot and repair mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and plumbing systems as needed.
- Utilize strong mechanical and problem-solving skills to address equipment malfunctions promptly.
- Support production operations with effective equipment adjustments and repairs.
- Adhere to safety protocols and company procedures during all maintenance activities.
- Assist in completing and implementing maintenance-related projects independently.
- Collaborate with the production team to ensure equipment meets operational and quality standards.
- Operate industrial power tools and equipment; training or certification preferred.
- Provide welding support (MIG, TIG, Stick) when necessary.
- Diagnose and address basic electrical and PLC system issues (preferred but not required).
- Maintain detailed records of maintenance activities and repairs.
**Physical Requirements:**
- Ability to stand, walk, lift, climb, pull/push, carry, grasp, reach, twist, turn, and stoop for extended periods.
- Must be able to lift up to 60 pounds frequently.
- Flexibility to work overtime, weekends, and variable hours as needed.
Requirements
**Qualifications and Skills:**
- High School Diploma or equivalent required.
- 2–5 years of experience in an industrial bakery or food manufacturing environment preferred.
- Strong mechanical aptitude with excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Knowledge of plumbing, pneumatics, hydraulics, and cutting equipment.
- Welding (MIG, TIG, Stick) experience is a plus.
- Electrical and PLC diagnostics skills are advantageous.
- Power Industrial Training Certification is preferred.
- Self-starter with the ability to independently complete projects and assignments.
- Effective communication skills; bilingual in English/Spanish is a plus.
- Process-oriented and methodical in approach.
**Work Environment:**
The role requires working in a fast-paced production facility with exposure to loud machinery, varying temperatures, and food production equipment. Safety equipment must be worn at all times.
