About the role

Defense Mission Action Officer

The Opportunity:
As an expert in defense missions, your unique background inspires you to think bigger, push further, and ask questions others don’t. We need your extensive industry knowledge and advisory skills to solve some of our clients’ most complex problems—and find solutions that keep our nation safe.

As a Defense Mission Action Officer, you’ll leverage prior experience and knowledge to support a senior defense client for DoD strategy development, implementation planning, acquisition, transition, and resource-related modernization and integration assessments. You’ll use your skills and expertise to prepare and coordinate correspondences, facilitate preparations and execution of meetings, and expedite taskings and decision-making across a defense organization. You’ll plan for and coordinate the development of comprehensive reports and executive-level DoD and legislative engagements to improve the overall development and execution of organizational programs.

Work with us to conduct quantitative and qualitative analyses and program evaluation, provide management with information regarding the improvement of initiatives and strategic plans, and analyze the implementation of new policies and allocation of needed resources.

Join us. The world can’t wait.

You Have:

  • 7+ years of experience in defense missions

  • 3+ years of experience as a self-starter, effectively executing the action and staff officer role on Joint Staff, Service, or Agency-level headquarter staff, including developing strategies, decision briefs, and information papers and analyzing policy documents for the DoD

  • 2+ years of experience with DoD acquisition processes and policies supporting the development of recommended and required program documentation according to DoD regulations and directives

  • Experience working with senior defense officials and participating in senior-level meetings

  • Experience developing correspondence using DoD tools, running in-person and virtual meetings using DoD provided capabilities, managing issues and action items, analyzing information for trends, and consolidating information for senior-level awareness and decision-making

  • Knowledge of the Joint Capabilities Integration and Development System (JCIDS) or Planning, Programming, Budgeting, and Execution (PPBE) processes

  • Ability to anticipate client and stakeholder requirements, perform proactively while paying strict attention to detail, and work with minimum oversight

  • Ability to work independently, creatively, and analytically in a problem-solving environment

  • TS/SCI clearance

  • HS diploma or GED

Nice If You Have:

  • Experience working as part of a cross-functional delivery team, integrating and incorporating detailed technical data from multiple team members into executive-level decision-making products, and communicating the findings, insights, and recommendations to senior-level clients effectively

  • Experience preparing and coordinating correspondence requests directed to senior DoD leadership and Legislative Branch offices

  • Experience reviewing the annual Defense Authorization and Appropriations acts for provisions

  • Experience writing and synthesizing data from multiple sources into comprehensive technical documents that are easy to comprehend
