Brown & Brown is seeking a Head of Team Resources for our team in Tampa, Florida.
Orchid Underwriters Agency (Orchid), a member of the Brown & Brown National Programs division. The preferred location for this role is within commuting distance to our Tampa office. Moderate travel to our Vero Beach office will also be required.
The Head of Team Resources will report to the Chief Executive Officer/Profit Center Leader and will be responsible for directing all the people functions of the organization in conjunction with the parent company’s policies and best practices, ensuring legal compliance and implementation of the organization’s mission and talent strategy.
WHAT YOU’LL DO:
- Collaborates with senior leadership to understand the organization’s goals and strategy related to staffing, recruiting, and retention.
- Plans, leads, develops, coordinates, and implements processes, training, initiatives, and surveys to support the organization’s human resource compliance and strategy needs.
- Identifies staffing and recruiting needs; develops and executes best practices for hiring and talent management.
- Serves as a transformational and change champion for the organization; effectively communicating and understanding the change, acting as a trusted advisor and ensuring change is for the greater good; delivering substantial impact for increase teammate satisfaction and productivity.
- Conducts research and analysis of organizational trends including review of reports and metrics from the organization’s human resource information system (HRIS) or talent management system.
- Maintains knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, talent management, and employment law; applies this knowledge to communicate changes in policy, practice, and resources to upper management.
- Establishes credibility throughout the profit center to be an effective listener and problem solver of people issues.
- Provides leadership, guidance and knowledge to others within the HR discipline.
- Manages other areas such as quarterly engagement surveys and results, teammate communication, teammate safety and health, and engagement team.
- Develops and implements departmental budget.
- Participates in professional development and networking conferences and events.
- Manages all teammates of the Team Resources department and is responsible for the performance management and hiring of the teammates within that department.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
WHAT YOU’LL NEED:
- Bachelor’s degree.
- Master’s or other advanced degree preferred.
- Certification: SHRM-CP or PHR required; SHRM-SCP or SPHR preferred.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

- Thorough knowledge of employment-related laws and regulations.
- Experience working across multiple digital platforms to organize and manage parallel workstreams (e.g., MS Office, Teams, SharePoint, Workday, etc.)
- Hands on experience with Workday HCM.
