About the Role
As a Software Engineer on the Platform Health team, you’ll design, build, and support backend services and infrastructure that are foundational to our development ecosystem. You'll work on Java services, enhance NGINX-based delivery systems, and develop CI/CD automation using GitHub Actions. You'll also contribute to platform-wide efforts that improve scalability, reliability, and operational efficiency.
This role involves a balance of hands-on coding, systems design, and collaboration across engineering teams. You’ll play a key role in enabling other developers to ship high-quality software efficiently and safely. As part of our commitment to service ownership, this role includes participation in a paid on-call rotation to support the systems you help build.
About You
You’re a seasoned developer who enjoys building tools and systems that help others succeed. You’re comfortable working across the stack, thrive in cross-functional environments, and take pride in creating reliable, maintainable services.
Basic Qualifications
- 3+ years building backend services with Java and Spring Boot.
- 1+ year of experience in writing and debugging Bash scripts on Linux-based systems.
- 1+ of practical experience developing automation or deployment scripts using Python.
Other Qualifications
- Proven track record of containerizing and deploying applications using Docker in production environments.
- Hands-on experience configuring and maintaining CI/CD pipelines with GitHub Actions.
- Background in configuring NGINX for static content delivery or enhancing functionality using Lua (e.g., via OpenResty).
- Familiar with observability tooling such as Prometheus, Grafana, OpenTelemetry, or the ELK stack.
- Exposure to managing CI/CD workflows for static assets or frontend build pipelines.
- Experience contributing to improvements in system reliability, scalability, or performance.
- Knowledge of cloud infrastructure and services across AWS, GCP, or Azure.
- Understanding of asynchronous processing and fault-tolerant service patterns, including retries and circuit breakers.
