Student Engagement Officer (Student Wage)

This is a forward-facing fundraising and engagement role within University Advancement’s Office of Engagement. A typical shift includes calling, emailing, texting, and meeting virtually with potential or current donors. SEOs will travel across Grounds to create personalized short-form engagement content. Within your cohort of SEOs, you’ll learn and discuss outreach strategies and review prospect interactions.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Donor Outreach & Engagement
Execute a five-step solicitation cadence across phone, email, video, and text.
Conduct personalized outreach to previous supporters, parents, recent graduates, and other UVA constituents.
Follow up on giving days, anniversaries, and planned giving opportunities.
Stewardship & Relationship Building
Deliver personalized thank-you messages and stewardship communications.
Support donor retention and reactivation through thoughtful, timely interactions.
Generate and refer leads to the broader Advancement community.
Content Creation & Event Support
Create short-form content (e.g., videos, social media snippets) to enhance engagement efforts.
Represent UVA at University events and partner initiatives.
Data Management & Reporting
Accurately log interactions and outcomes in the donor management system.
Maintain confidentiality and adhere to University policies regarding donor data.
Qualifications:
Current full-time UVA student in good academic standing.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
Comfortable with sharing your UVA experience through phone, video, and digital communication platforms.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Passion for UVA and its mission of education, research, and service.
Preferred Skills:
Creative storytelling or content creation experience.
Experience in customer service, fundraising, or peer leadership roles.
Familiarity with CRM systems or donor databases.
Work Schedule:
Three 4-hour shifts per week, plus time for donor follow-up and cross grounds work (15 hours total).
Flexible scheduling with a mix of in-person and remote work.
In-Person Shifts: (Day and Time(s) subject to Change)
Monday 3:00–7:00 PM
Wednesday 3:00–7:00 PM
Friday 1:00–5:00 PM
Compensation:
$20 Hourly, with professional development opportunities
Undergrad student wage position for less than 20 hours per week.
