Position Summary
As Senior Manager, Patient Engagement – Cancer at Bristol Myers Squibb, you will craft compelling patient narratives that align with strategic business goals and amplify patient voices across channels. Leveraging your expertise in creative storytelling, communications, and marketing, you will design and execute high-impact content and live events that reflect superior client service standards.
Serving as a relationship builder and strategic advisor, you will collaborate with cross-functional teams and external partners, cultivating strong connections with a diverse range of personalities to deliver innovative, compliant, and emotionally resonant experiences that foster trust, engagement, and advocacy. The ideal candidate proactively develops and champions creative concepts, operationalizes strategies, secures internal buy-in, executes projects seamlessly, and manages logistics and stakeholder coordination. You also establish metrics, analyze outcomes, and communicate results and data-driven recommendations to stakeholders, ensuring patient engagement delivers measurable business value.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Content Creation: Develop and execute creative approaches to patient storytelling, going beyond standard testimonial videos and written case studies.
Patient Voice Innovation: Collaborate and develop relationships with patients from a large variety of backgrounds to capture and share their experiences in new and compelling ways.
Multi-Channel Strategy: Work collaboratively to design and adapt patient stories for various platforms—from short-form social media ads to long-form documentary pieces and integrated, interactive website content.
Stakeholder & Compliance Management: Lead cross-functional teams and manage key stakeholder relationships, including legal, regulatory, and medical, to ensure patient content meets all requirements without sacrificing creative integrity.
Content Ecosystem Building: Build and nurture sustainable processes where patients can regularly contribute stories across different formats and channels, ensuring authenticity and avoiding exploitation or seemingly transactional relationships.
Measurement & ROI: Define and track meaningful metrics for patient engagement content, evaluating both emotional impact and practical utility.
Trend Forecasting: Stay ahead of emerging platforms and formats, such as AI-generated content and patient influencer networks. Prepare for shifts in how patient stories are created, shared, and consumed. Help innovate the BMS approach to patient storytelling.
Qualifications & Experience
3–5 years’ experience in pharmaceutical, healthcare, or other highly regulated sector, with knowledge of commercialization, scientific, medical, brand, or commercial operations—preferably with client or stakeholder service professional DNA.
Bachelor’s degree required; background in communications, marketing, patient marketing, or related field preferred.
Proven track record producing external patient-related content, working directly with patients, and navigating healthcare compliance and regulatory requirements.
Creative storyteller able to design solutions for complex challenges, particularly with rare diseases or audiences unfamiliar with medical topics.
