Health Consultant

The Opportunity:

You’ll support federal health research organizations with programs related to data management and sharing. You’ll conduct and apply life science expertise to science and technology client challenges. For this role, we need a full-time data curator to support the collection and management of metadata associated with datasets and documents from clinical research studies funded by the National Institutes of Health (NIH).

How You’ll Contribute:

As a health scientist on our team, you’ll:

  • Compile and structure metadata about clinical research datasets and documents into structured format.
  • Analyze study documentation to extract metadata that could be used to aid in search and discovery of clinical research data.
  • Perform Quality Assurance and Quality Control (QA/QC) to ensure metadata is captured accurately and completely.
  • Use your scientific knowledge and analytical mindset.

You Have: 

  • 1+ years of experience as a biomedical, health, or public health informatician or data scientist
  • Knowledge of data or metadata collection, ingestion, and storage 
  • Ability to perform work with minimal supervision and guidance, and do so with attention to detail
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust or Suitability/Fitness determination based on client requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree

Nice If You Have: 

  • Experience implementing findable, accessible, interoperable, and reusable (FAIR) principles for data sharing
  • Experience with data and metadata harmonization and approaches to achieving data interoperability, including the use of common data models and common data elements
  • Experience working with semantic interoperability and semantic web technologies such as RDF and OWL, or approaches for implementing ontologies, taxonomies, and controlled vocabularies

Salary at Booz Allen is determined by various factors, including but not limited to location, the individual’s particular combination of education, knowledge, skills, competencies, and experience, as well as contract-specific affordability and organizational requirements. The projected compensation range for this position is $51,600.00 to $106,000.00 (annualized USD). The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position and is just one component of Booz Allen’s total compensation package for employees.
