The Role

The National Data Planning team is primarily accountable for managing capacity utilization trends, forecasts, and demand for Lumen's national data networks. The team manages equipment procurement and releases projects to install or augment ethernet, IP, and security hardware, software, and connections to meet growth demand. The team also manages the optimization and right-sizing of legacy networks as older services diminish in favor of newer products.

This is a work from home position within the U.S.

The Main Responsibilities

• Broad professional knowledge and skills in applying network engineering and planning disciplines within information technology
• Forecast and trend bandwidth growth on network elements and take action to prevent congestion
• Analyze complex networks and/or customer network environments, including planning, designing, evaluating, and making recommendations for funding and implementation
• Manage work intakes per service-level agreements and key performance indicator metrics; be highly responsive to company communication and escalations
• Develop and submit monthly and annual capital budget projections and requests for assigned area of responsibility
• Partner with Architecture, Engineering, and Product Management on product changes and new technology
• Act as a technical mentor for peers
• Independently plan and carry out assignments in conformance with accepted policies and practices. Write processes and provide guidance/training for peers
• Collaborate or lead meetings and training sessions
• Lead special projects, as needed

What We Look For in a Candidate

• Excellent critical thinking, respective of standard practices and policies
• High attention to detail
• Able to quickly learn and adapt to new systems, applications, and processes
• Technical knowledge of LAN/WAN internetworking technologies and protocols
• Technical familiarity with installing telecommunications and networking equipment, pertaining to racks, cabinets, AC/DC power systems, and cabling 
• Command line experience with Juniper, Cisco, and/or Nokia switches and routers
• Must be willing and able to work both individually and within a team to complete projects
• Excellent organizational and time management skills; capable of managing multiple complex assignments, on schedule and within budget
• Bachelor of Science in a technology field of study, plus 6 or more years' experience, OR Master of Science in a technology field of study, plus 4 or more years' experience
• Technical and Professional certifications are a plus

Compensation

This information reflects the anticipated base salary range for this position based on current national data. Minimums and maximums may vary based on location. Individual pay is based on skills, experience and other relevant factors.

 

Location Based Pay Ranges:

 

$82,969 - $110,625 in these states: AL, AR, AZ, FL, GA, IA, ID, IN, KS, KY, LA, ME, MO, MS, MT, ND, NE, NM, OH, OK, PA, SC, SD, TN, UT, VT, WI, WV, and WY.
$87,117 - $116,156 in these states: CO, HI, MI, MN, NC, NH, NV, OR, and RI.
$91,266 - $121,688 in these states: AK, CA, CT, DC, DE, IL, MA, MD, NJ, NY, TX, VA, and WA.
