Senior Associate Scientist, Analytical R&D

By leveraging cutting-edge design and process development capabilities, you will help accelerate the delivery of best-in-class medicines to patients globally, ultimately improving their lives.</p><p></p><p><b>What You Will Achieve</b></p><p><span>The qualified candidate will join the Analytical R&amp;D organization in Andover, MA, to enable development of biological therapeutics.  Within Analytical R&amp;D the candidate will join the Characterization and Analytical Sciences (CAS) – Andover Group focused on monoclonal antibodies/fusion proteins/synthetic peptides and other biological modalities.  This group supports the progression of biotherapeutic products in the pipeline; this includes routine analytical testing, method qualifications, analytical method development, and product characterization, in addition to technical writing of reports and memos. </span></p><p></p><p><b>How You Will Achieve It</b></p><p></p><p>In this role, you will:</p><ul><li><p>Conduct qualitative and quantitative analyses of various compounds and biologics to determine their properties during chemical syntheses, fermentation, or drug product development</p></li><li><p>Perform analytical method development, validation, and transfer activities for both small molecules and complex formulations</p></li><li><p>Maintain written records of all experimental work in compliance with GLP/GMP and departmental SOPs</p></li><li><p>Assist in the maintenance and renewal of laboratory instruments, systems, or apparatus, and improve safe and effective working practices</p></li><li><p>Attend project team and brainstorming meetings to present data and apply technical skills to assignments</p></li><li><p>Choose between alternatives to solve moderately complex problems and follow procedures with general instructions</p></li><li><p>Work under moderate supervision with regular review and identify activities to support work group/project team goals</p></li><li><p>Contribute to the achievement of immediate work group goals and collaborate with other team members</p></li><li><p>Prioritize work to meet project deadlines and ensure participation and contribution as a team member</p></li><li><p>Continuously improve safe and effective working practices in the laboratory environment</p></li></ul><p></p><p><b>Qualifications</b></p><p></p><p><b>Must-Have</b></p><ul><li><p>BA/BS with at least 3 years of experience or MBA/MS with any years of experience</p></li></ul><ul><li><p>Strong documentation skills and attention to detail</p></li><li><p>Experience with method validation</p></li><li><p>Ability to extract relevant information from scientific literature</p></li><li><p>Proficiency in recording observations, facts, data, and conclusions during experimental work or cGMP investigations</p></li><li><p>Solid understanding of fundamental organic chemistry, including functional group recognition and compound characterization</p></li><li><p>Experience using spectroscopic and chromatographic techniques</p></li></ul><p></p><p><b>Nice-to-Have</b></p><ul><li><p>Experience in a Current Good Manufacturing Practices (part of GxP) laboratory</p></li><li><p>Understanding of various scientific software or software used in pharmaceutical or production environments</p></li><li><p>Good Laboratory Practices (part of GxP) and Good Manufacturing Practices (also cGMP) knowledge</p></li><li><p>Effective interaction with peers and leaders as part of a multi-disciplinary team</p></li><li><p>Strong verbal and written communication skills</p></li><li><p>Problem-solving skills and the ability to make decisions based on limited options</p></li><li><p>Initiative and proactive approach to tasks and projects</p></li><li><p>Experience using common AI tools, including generative technologies such as ChatGPT or Microsoft Copilot, to support problem solving and enhance productivity. Demonstrated curiosity for exploring how these tools can improve outcomes and understanding of responsible AI practices, including risk management and ethical use</p></li></ul><p>  <br/>Work Location Assignment: On Premise</p> The annual base salary for this position ranges from $68,600.00 to $114,300.00. In addition, this position is eligible for participation in Pfizer’s Global Performance Plan with a bonus target of 7.5% of the base salary.
