Job Responsibilities:

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Senior Financial Analyst ensures the timely and accurate completion of monthly, quarterly, and yearly close of multiple entities and ensures all deadlines are met.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

-  Preparing and reviewing journal entries for global consolidations, including all equity related transactions, capital infusions, and dividends.

-  Assist in preparation of budget, quarterly forecasts, and quarterly review meeting (QRM) presentation to Magna Management.

- Perform monthly closing procedures for multiple Group Office entities. This includes reporting variances to budget, latest forecast and prior year

-  Gathering, analyzing, and consolidating financial information from divisions into a single, consolidated set of financial statements and reporting to Management, including Quarterly and Year End Deliverables for Magna International.

-  Perform various checks related to monthly consolidations, including monthly top-side journal entries.  Support global locations with questions/requests related to their monthly close.  

-  Prepare Budget and Forecast support files for Group Office as well as the One Stream load files.

- Understanding of foreign currency translation and currency effects.

- Assist in preparing annual audits, internal control, US regulatory reporting, and Sarbanes-Oxley compliance.

-  Code, record, and obtain proper approval for transactions, especially intercompany transactions between divisions, Exteriors Group Offices, and Magna head office and/or other Magna Groups. 

-  Prepare the Transfer Pricing Group Office Allocations and year end entries

-  Assist in preparing annual tax packages, including preparation of year end CMF (Controller Model File)

-  Preparing Cross Border Payment and Tax Packages requested by Magna Tax.  Preparing legal entity financial statements for Canadian tax returns.

-  Perform other duties as may be assigned by Director of Finance

  • Some travel may be required

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education/Skills/Special Knowledge

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting is required. CPA Accounting designation preferred.  MBA or other Master’s degree is a plus.   

  • Good working knowledge and familiarity with Solomon (Microsoft Dynamics accounting software) / Acc Pac / SAP / HFM / One Stream preferred.  Knowledge of SmartView or QuickView is a plus.

  • Experience using Hyperion Financial Management (HFM) or OneStream preferred.

  • Experience in technical accounting and strong understanding of US GAAP accounting, audit, and consolidation procedures

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Proven ability to prioritize multiple tasks, ensuring that deadlines are met, effective organizational skills and must be detail oriented.
