About the Role:
We are looking for a Customer Success Manager (CSM) to drive the success of our engagement with Carbon Mapper and the California Air Resources Control Board (CARB). This role is in direct support of the recently-awarded Satellite Data Purchase Project (SDPP) from the State of California. In this role, you will work closely with stakeholders to ensure they maximize the value of Planet’s satellite data and analytics, supporting methane emissions monitoring, air quality initiatives, and regulatory compliance efforts.
This position requires a strategic thinker with excellent relationship management skills, a passion for environmental monitoring, and the ability to translate technical capabilities into customer impact. This role will appeal to candidates who are passionate about sustainability, air quality, and climate resilience.
This is a full-time, remote position based in California.
Impact You'll Own:
- Serve as Planet’s primary point of contact for CARB’s SDPP, ensuring seamless collaboration with Carbon Mapper and other stakeholders.
- Drive adoption and effective use of Planet’s data and analytics within CARB’s methane emissions and air quality monitoring programs.
- Work cross-functionally with Product, Sales, and Technical Support teams to address customer needs and provide solutions.
- Conduct training, webinars, and workshops to onboard CARB users and enhance their technical proficiency with Planet’s platform.
- Proactively monitor account health and provide data-driven recommendations to optimize CARB’s workflows.
- Advocate for CARB’s needs internally at Planet, influencing product roadmaps and future capabilities.
- Support contract renewals and expansions by demonstrating value and aligning Planet’s offerings with CARB’s long-term objectives.
- Track and report key success metrics, ensuring CARB achieves its regulatory and sustainability goals.
What You Bring:
- 4+ years of experience in Customer Success, Account Management, or related roles, preferably in environmental science, geospatial data, or climate technology.
- Advanced understanding of remote sensing, methane emissions monitoring, and regulatory frameworks relevant to CARB’s work.
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills, with the ability to work with government agencies and technical teams.
- Ability to translate technical concepts into clear, actionable plans for non-technical stakeholders.
What Makes You Stand Out:
- Understanding of Hyperspectral applications
- Experience with platforms like ArcGIS, QGIS, or Google Earth Engine
- Previous Program Management experience
- Experience with geospatial tools (e.g., GIS, QGIS, ArcGIS) and data visualization
