The Position:
This is a onsite position based in our South San Francisco location.
We are looking for a highly motivated individual to join the Veracyte R&D Team as a Senior Research Associate. This exciting role is responsible for performing molecular biology protocols associated with the development of molecular diagnostic assays in the field of oncology. This position is hands-on in the laboratory with responsibilities including RNA/DNA isolation from clinical samples, DNA/RNA QC, and performing genomic assay testing. Responsibilities:
- Perform product development activities; hands-on laboratory work will include DNA/RNA analysis using molecular biology protocols such as next generation sequencing (NGS) or qPCR. These studies will be performed in the context of assay development, verification, and validation of new or existing diagnostic products
- Additional responsibilities include clinical specimen handling, nucleic acid isolation, and DNA/RNA QC
- Coordination of lab activities with product development team members to ensure compliance with protocol and overall objectives
- Implement standard operation procedures (SOPs) and generate laboratory records for experimental protocols
- Work with internal departments and outside vendors for purchasing reagents and laboratory supplies
- Assist in lab equipment maintenance and compliance
Who You Are:
Education: BS/BA in Genetics, Cellular and Molecular Biology, Immunology, Stem Cell Biology or related field.
A minimum of 5 years laboratory experience, preferably in the biotechnology industry or equivalent setting.
The candidate will be expected to have proficiency and experience with general molecular biology techniques.
- Experience with molecular biology protocols and ability to execute such protocols independently or with training and minor supervision; experience with NGS protocols is strongly preferred
- Familiarity and experience with instrumentation used in molecular biology laboratories (DNA/RNA analysis equipment, such as thermocyclers and sequencers, centrifuges, pipettes)
- Capable of prioritizing and performing lab work efficiently
- Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
- Familiarity with MS Word, Excel, & PowerPoint.
- Must be self-motivated and able to meet project timelines efficiently
