Who we are

The Texas A&M School of Veterinary Medicine & Biomedical Sciences (VMBS) is an institution that represents 100 years of growth from a small school of veterinary medicine in 1916 to its present role as a major veterinary educational, medical, and research center. Today, we are one of the largest schools of veterinary medicine in the United States, training nearly 600 Doctor of Veterinary Medicine students each year. We support collaboration and teamwork that turns today's discoveries into proactive solutions for animals, humans, and the environment. Together, we strive to support the goals of the faculty, staff and students in teaching, research and outreach programs.

What we want  

The Equine Research Technician performs independent or supervisory roles in research activities requiring an advanced level of knowledge in a field of science or learning, are predominantly intellectual and varied in character, and require consistent use of discretion and judgment. Provides overall management of the laboratory including supervision of undergraduate, graduate, and professional students and other laboratory personnel, maintenance of equipment, oversight of inventory and ordering, and ensure compliance and integrity of research activities. Operates research equipment and conduct experiments pertaining to host-agent interactions. Assists with animal experiments, including procedures and care of animals, as well as compliance.

Salary: Starting at $16.50/hour.

Qualifications

Required Education and Experience

• High school diploma or equivalent combination of education and experience.

• Two years of related professional experience to include experience with infectious diseases (preferably with zoonotic infections), research experience (preferably related to animal studies), laboratory experience, and experience with recording, curating, and analyzing research data.
