Position Summary
PG&E is seeking a Construction Manager with a Business Analytics background supported by Construction and Project Controls experience, coupled with outstanding written and verbal communication skills. The candidate will assist the Transmission Temporary Generation M&C Team in enforcing Safety and Quality of assigned projects and supporting internal customers in developing resources strategies, optimize resource deployment, and build-in cost effectiveness throughout all business processes. Individual must be able to coordinate and manage multiple tasks, exhibit strong organizational skills, and have an advanced understanding of the design and construction business processes. Individual must be able to prioritize work within the project versus program paradigm while completing other urgent tasks assigned by the Temporary Generation Field Supervisor.
PG&E is providing the salary range that the company in good faith believes it might pay for this position at the time of the job posting. This compensation range is specific to the locality of the job. The actual salary paid to an individual will be based on multiple factors, including, but not limited to, specific skills, education, licenses or certifications, experience, market value, geographic location, and internal equity. Although we estimate the successful candidate hired into this role will be placed towards the middle or entry point of the range, the decision will be made on a case-by-case basis related to these factors.
A reasonable salary range is:
- Minimum Base Salary (Bay Area) $102,000.00
- Mid Base Salary (Bay Area) $132,000.00
- Maximum Base Salary (Bay Area) $162,000.00
- Minimum Base Salary (California) $97,000.00
- Mid Base Salary (California) $125,000.00
- Maximum Base Salary (California) $154,000.00
Job Responsibilities
- Ability to apply project management theories, concepts, methods, best practices, and techniques
- Competency in maneuvering comfortably through complex policy, process, and people-related organizational dynamics
- Must have performed work that entailed analyses of numerous databases and reports to communicate findings, implement corrective actions, and ensure compliance for the team
- Demonstrated ability to participate in multi/cross-functional teams in a matrix environment
- Performs field visits as applicable based on the field condition and/or any issues with the information provided from the field.
- Manage Temporary Generation construction projects by overseeing and supporting all inspection activities.
- Mentor and coach inspectors and provide proper tools so that they can be successful in the field.
- Partners with the vendor for verification and approval in the pre-construction project cycle for all workorders.
- Verification that contracted work is completed to specifications and partners with Department’s PCA and Program Manager to timely approve invoices.
- Compiles and summarizes program information to track progress on commitments.
- Manages the portfolio of assigned projects and ensures all projects are designed safely and constructed on time, on budget, on scope, and without adverse environmental or regulatory impacts.
- Maintains public and employee safety on site at all times by promoting a positive safety culture, exhibiting an absolute commitment to safety for self and others, and by ensuring all applicable safety rules, regulations and standards are followed.
- Ensures contractors follow their approved site-specific safety plans. Enforces project environmental/land permit conditions and all safety regulations.
- Assists in the pre-construction project cycle, accompany team on project walks and offer constructability reports when tasked. Coordinates both construction project kick off meetings, PG&E procured material deliveries, meet with governing agencies/municipalities to manage and enlist compliance with permitting regulations.
- Analyze current business processes for true Lean Management/Continuous Improvement upgrades and revisions
- Assist in the development and implementation of performance metrics: including financial, operational, and productivity as it applies to the Temporary Generation Team
- Microsoft Office Suite Applications including Visio, PowerPoint, (Advanced Excel is a must)
