Position: Western Colorado University invites applications for full-time position of the Assistant Director of Campus Recreation-Recreational Sports (ADCR-RS). The position reports to the Director of Campus Recreation.
Responsibilities:
The Assistant Director of Campus Recreation – Recreational Sports (ADCR-RS) exists to provide leadership for the Club Sports Department and Intramural Sports Program at Western Colorado University and to plan and execute associated programing. Through recreational sports, these areas promote and increase student health and wellness, and this position trains and mentors students to create, manage and host programs and events. This position leads and attends Club Sports and Intramural Sports events as necessary - often occurring at night and on weekends.
This position supervises a group of student workers who help to manage the Club Teams and Intramural Teams. Additionally, this role requires travel arrangement duties, risk management planning, as well as purchasing, expensing, and budgeting for both the Club and Intramural programs. This role also works to facilitate fundraising events in conjunction with student workers.
Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Recreation, Sports Management, Student Affairs, or a closely related field with emphasis in recreation, sports coordination, and student engagement or development. Three (3) years of experience in budget management and personnel supervision within a recreational or educational setting. Basic first aid and CPR/AED or the ability to obtain one (1) month after hire.
Preferred Qualifications: Master’s Degree in Leadership, Organizational Development, Higher Education Administration, or a closely related field with a focus on strategic planning and student development. Prior experience designing, marketing, and implementing recreational programming. Prior experience supervising a versatile and multi-faceted staff.
Compensation: Salary range: $54,000-$55,000. This position is FLSA exempt. After one year of employment, Western provides free tuition for dependents enrolled full time in undergraduate programs for up to four years.
