Northrop Grumman’s Defense Systems sector is looking for a Guidance & Control Design Review Systems Engineering Manager 2 located at the Strategic Deterrence Division (SDS) headquarters in Roy, UT.

What you get to do:

This is a functional home room (FHR) manager position, involving balancing both the overall functional oversight and management of a Systems Engineering group (typically 8-12 engineers) while maintaining a technical baseline of performance on program work. The candidate will spend ~20% of their time on functional/organizational support and ~80% of their time on a mix of technical program work from current or future tasking.

Functional Homeroom Duties:

• Provide people leadership for a Systems Engineering organization, to include performance management (including performance reviews), career development, staffing, and merit planning as part of the Strategic Deterrent Systems business unit Functional Homeroom

• Support employee development; employee inclusion, engagement, mentoring and career development; employee training and identification and training of skills required to execute programs

• Provide ownership of and direction of processes used in the functional group

• Support staffing and workload forecast; Recruiting, sourcing, onboarding, and performance management

• Support the Department Manager in requested tasking

Program Management Duties:

• Managing cost and schedule of all G&C design review related WPs,

• Working with specialty teams and design teams on content for design reviews according to the program level SOW

• Taking Change Requests (CRs) through multiple program level Cost Control Boards (CCBs)

• Organizing and tracking GN&C CDRLs for each major program design review and milestone

• Tracking action items for various design reviews and driving them to closure

• Managing a team of systems engineers for CDRL and product review and integration into the program baseline.

The successful applicant will:

• Lead a team of systems engineers, leveraging their experience in one or more of the following specific skills: Model Based Systems Engineering (Cameo), Requirements Management (DOORS), Verification Planning, Interface definition, and planning.

• Manage cost and schedule aspects of PSE deliveries, leveraging experience in Earned Value Management

• Set and promote high standards for engineering development

• Foster a working environment which reinforces and drives accountability to fundamental Northrop Grumman Values focused on integrity, quality, shared success, and innovation.

This positions standard work schedule is a 9/80. The 9/80 schedule allows employees who work a nine-hour day Monday through Thursday to take every other Friday off. This role may offer a competitive relocation assistance package.

Basic Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics) and a minimum 8 years of related experience or master’s degree in STEM with 4 years of related experience

• Must have an active U.S. Government DoD Secret security clearance at time of application, current and within scope, with an ability to obtain and maintain Special Access Program (SAP) approval within a reasonable period, as determined by the company to meet its business
