Position Description

The Resident Monitor works collectively amongst the reentry team to create a transformative community experience, where peers support one other and residents receive support and accountability in their reintegration journey. The resident monitor plays an integral role in providing oversight and accountability for all residents through direct support, service and resource coordination, as well as ensuring health and safety of facilities. Additionally, the resident monitor will foster a therapeutic environment and demonstrate pro-social modeling.


This position is supervised by the Program and Recovery Service Coordinator and works collaboratively as a member of the Reentry Housing and Services team.



Specific Duties

  • Maintain quality, detailed resident engagement entries via the Apricot System
  • Conduct substance abuse and alcohol testing according to program policy.
  • Maintain a calm, friendly and cooperative atmosphere within the facility and participants to promote a clean, orderly and healthy environment at all times.
  • Maintain an efficient and professional demeanor at all times.
  • Conduct room checks to ensure residents are productively engaged.
  • Observe, monitor and record resident medication distribution while maintaining confidential, accurate and timely records of medication.
  • Complete timely, thorough incident reports per policy.
  • Promptly and accurately report issues or concerns to the Program Coordinator.
  • Transit daily emails to team staff regarding incidents during the assigned shift.
  • Ensure the adherence of program rules on a consistent and fair basis.
  • Promptly respond to and manage crises according to guidelines established.
  • Maintain professional relationships (boundaries) with residents while maintaining confidentiality of all parties.
  • Participate in all scheduled meetings, staff development, and training as required.
  • Provide back-up assistance to program team members as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned which are deemed beneficial to the success of program participants.


Desired Qualifications

Justice-involved individuals are encouraged to apply. Personal experience returning from incarceration is highly valued by the organization and can be considered in lieu of other qualifications.

  • Experience working with individuals who are or have been justice involved is preferred.
  • Knowledge of trauma-informed systems of care.
  • Interpersonal, engagement, organizational and time-management skills.
  • Ability to maintain appropriate boundaries and awareness with individuals referred and serviced.
  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills with the ability to interact with individuals of varying ethic, social or economic backgrounds.
  • Ability to effectively solve problems and carry out responsibilities independently.
  • Possess excellent organizational skills, initiative and follow through.
