Under the general supervision of the Program Manager/Operations Manager, the Specialty Pharmacy Liaison serves as a liaison between manufacturer representatives and/or specialty pharmacy contacts in order to effectively triage patients, monitor patient status, triage and dispense data to prevent potential interruptions in patients’ therapy and resolve errors in data reporting. Proactively monitors program reports to assess specialty pharmacy adherence to business requirements. Work is performed with latitude for independent judgment. Action is reviewed by the Program/Operations Manager through conferences, reports and observation of results obtained.
Responsibilities
- Liaison between Program Manager/Operations, Specialty Pharmacy and manufacturer representatives
- Keeps the Program Manager abreast on all aspects concerning the Specialty Pharmacy process
- Lead and facilitate a regular cadence of conference calls with specialty pharmacy contacts (and client, if applicable) to monitor patient progress, reconcile data discrepancies, research missing data, handle inquiries and provide status updates as requested
- Coordinate and process co-pay requests including but not limited to patient status requests, co-pay assistance, prior authorization and billing inquiries and obstacles, eligibility inquiries, and claims processing challenges as outlined in Program Statements of Work (SOWs) and Standard Operation Procedures (SOPs)
- Create and maintain action log, agendas, and minutes for each specialty pharmacy meeting
- Handle inbound escalations from Program leadership or manufacturer contacts/representatives
- Handle inbound/outbound calls from all applicable customers including but not limited to specialty pharmacy contacts, client contacts, third party vendors and internal team resources
- Triage and track referrals to specialty pharmacies as outlined in contractual service level agreements or daily if not specified
- Track final outcome determination and shipment status (where appropriate)
- Reference aBusiness Requirements Document (BRD) or standard operating procesures (SOPs) as pertains to operating procedures, validation of incoming data from the Specialty Pharmacy, and identifying and escalating data feed issues internally and externally.
- Implement business requirements or standard operating procedures for newly-contracted specialty pharmacies joining the network to ensure adherence to all contractual obligations; ensure all data is validated prior to program launch
- Identify needed system enhancements and/or reports and participate in requirement review, testing, and implementation
- May coordinate data transfer with client and ensure data integration during transition of product support services from another HUB provider
- Assist, as requested, in program interviewing, onboarding, shadowing, and training new hires
- Share best practices and learning opportunities with Program leadership team
- Identify and report pharmacovigilance information as required by client(s) (i.e., Adverse Events)
- On time adherence to training deadlines for all corporate policies and procedures governing access to confidential data
- Ensure all SOPs are followed with consistency
- Other responsibilities, as assigned
Qualifications
- Requires broad training in fields such as business administration, healthcare management, medical billing and coding, or similar vocations generally obtained through completion of a two year associate’s degree and three years of professional experience, or a four year bachelor’s degree and one year of professional experience, technical vocational training and three years of professional experience, or equivalent combination of experience and education
- Two or more (2+) years directly related and progressively responsible reimbursement and pharmacy experience
- Additional experience in the healthcare field preferred (e.g., medical insurance, physician’s office, hospital, etc.)
