RN/Registered Nurse - Cardiac Rehab Lead - PT (Miami Co.)

Position Summary / Career Interest:

The Cardiac Rehabilitation (CR) Lead coordinates patient care activities on a daily basis by directing patient flow through the department. The CR Lead will assist with department scheduling and coordinate daily work priorities for the group. The CR Supervisor has excellent clinical skills and maintains competence in general nursing and unit-specific education and competencies. Provides mentoring and assistance to staff with clinical activities. Participates in overseeing and/or planning unit orientation, validation, education and in-service needs. Actively participates in PI activities, committees, and task forces to improve patient care. He/she ensures improvements in practice settings by assuming responsibility for self-development in life-long learning. Serves as a resource, preceptor, and mentor. Demonstrates leadership skills in decision-making and problem solving. The RN integrates and communicates knowledge and sensitivity to patient's psychosocial, spiritual, cultural and age specific needs. He/she practices within the boundaries of the Kansas Nurse Practice Act, specialty standards and organizational/departmental policies and procedures.

Responsibilities and Essential Job Functions

• Maintain staff, equipment, and supplies to promote quality and efficiency of the program.
• Maintain programs for patient orientation, assessment, education, exercise, and risk factor modification.
• Develop and implement quarterly cardiac support group meetings.
• Maintain comprehensive patient records following applicable guidelines.
• Communicate with the medical director and patients' physicians regarding changes in condition and plan of care.
• Promote and develop educational opportunities to increase community awareness of the prevention and treatment of heart disease.
• Prepare program performance and productivity assessments, including PI reports.
• Participate in other nursing projects as needed.
• Must be able to perform the professional, clinical and or technical competencies of the assigned unit or department.

Required Education and Experience

• Associate Degree Nursing
• 3 or more years of experience in cardiac rehabilitation including supervision of patient care, exercise prescription, and insurance reimbursement

Preferred Education and Experience

• Master's Degree
• Bachelors Degree

Required Licensure and Certification

• Licensed Registered Nurse (LRN) - Single State - State Board of Nursing upon Hire OR
• Licensed Registered Nurse (LRN) - Multi-State - State Board of Nursing upon Hire
• CPR/ AED/ BLS - Other BLS within 14 days
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) - American Heart Association (AHA) within 120 Days
• Cardiac Rehabilitation Nursing Certification (RN-BC) - American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) within 120 Days
