Summary
San Mateo County Health - San Mateo Medical Center is seeking a highly motivated individual for the position of Revenue Cycle Informatics Administrative Assistant (Administrative Assistant I). The current vacancy is a regular, full-time vacancy.
The incumbent will support the Patient Financial Services (PFS) team through data-driven decision-making, policy development, and operational improvements. They will analyze and report on key financial metrics, identify trends and opportunities to enhance reimbursement, oversee department-specific projects, and serve as a liaison across departments, external partners, and SMMC providers; ensuring providers are enrolled into the Medicare and Medi-Cal programs for timely and accurate reimbursement. This role also supports leadership in advancing departmental goals, ensuring regulatory compliance, and optimizing performance through continuous process improvement.
As the Revenue Cycle Informatics Administrative Assistant I, your responsibilities will include:
- Account receivable analysis, reporting and summarization through various tools, dashboards and reporting functionality.
- Provider enrollment.
- Develop and support department goals, practices and policies align with industry standards through research and recommendations. Assist in revision and or authoring of PFS department’s existing and future protocols.
- Report and summarize trending opportunities for improvements related to revenue cycle key metrics specific to Patient Financial Services functions/business.
- Support PFS Manager/Director directly by partnering with and/or leading team members related to department analysis/trending in areas including but not limited to accounts receivable, AR days, aging accounts receivables, denials impact and management, unbilled, clean claims submissions, payer payments/remittance reconciliations, patient statement and patient payment collections.
- Leverage data and trending to help support PFS supervisors for oversight, transparency and trending within areas of responsibility.
- Utilize revenue cycle, patient accounting business knowledge to act as liaison and/or resource for IT related project/efforts supporting operational needs of the department.
- Assists in developing goals, objectives, policies, procedures, work standards, and administrative control systems for the department to which assigned.
- Develops and standardizes procedures and methods to improve and continuously monitors the efficiency and effectiveness of operations and service delivery methods and procedures to maximize reimbursement; assesses and monitors workload and administrative and support systems; identifies opportunities for improvement and develops related recommendations.
- Plans, oversees, and administers department-specific programs and projects.
- Conducts a variety of analytical and operational studies regarding departmental and programmatic activities, including complex operational, regulatory, or administrative issues; evaluates alternatives, and makes recommendations,
- Prepares comprehensive technical records and reports, identifies alternatives, and makes and justifies recommendations.
- Conducts special research projects and financial analysis for SMMC hospital and Clinic revenue and reimbursement; produces findings and recommendations and prepares related data reports.
- Represents assigned department in interdepartmental, community and/or professional meetings; confers with and coordinates with other County staff on a wide variety of administrative analyses and planning issues.
- Serves as a liaison to public and private organizations, community groups, and other organizations; provides information and assistance to our customers regarding the assigned programs and services; receives and responds to complaints, requests and questions relating to assigned area of responsibility.
- Ensures compliance with Federal, State, County, and funding agency regulatory and reporting requirements and applicable laws, regulations, and professional practices.
