Job Title:  House Manager

Qualifications:  Bachelor’s Degree in Human Services, RN 2 or 3 years, LPN, or administrative/direct care experience with individuals with D/ID; Flexibility in schedule to accommodate job responsibilities; Submit to and pass a criminal record check and a drug screen test; Possess a valid social security card or valid work permit for non US citizens; and possess a valid driver license with no moving violations

Hours: Monday through Friday 8:00 am until 4:30 pm   Evening and weekend hours may be required.

This position reports directly to the D/ID Director or D/ID Assistant Director.

Summary of Job Duties:  The Residential Manager position may be full or part time, and may be required to be on-call. The manager will be responsible for residential facilities for individuals with mental retardation. Each home has one to three individuals and a staff person on site at all times.  Each individual receives support as needed: i.e. Physical assistance, training in communication, self help, and sensor motor skills, and daily living skills such as ambulation, grooming, feeding, toileting, meal planning, laundry, and budgeting. Other aspects include emotional support, communication and cooperation with case manager and other staff, arrangement of transportation (R-TEC, residential vehicles, staff vehicles), and participation in medical appointments and follow up care.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Complete and oversee completion of all paperwork (billing, progress notes, fire drills, time sheets, travel, etc.)
  • Write relevant, factual notes using the appropriate format.
  • Insure compliance with the individual’s Plan of Care (skill training, behavior plan, etc.).
  • Coordinate doctor appointments with SR staff and/or accompany the individuals as needed.  This may require transportation of the individual in personal vehicle.
  • Communicate with Case Managers regarding their individuals; with staff who accompany individuals to the doctor; and with the individual’s family members.
  • Monitor individual’s health.
  • Make sure the individual’s prescriptions are filled.
  • Oversee, monitor, and assist the individuals with their money.
  • Encourage, advocate and schedule community integrated activities for individuals.
  • Supervise staff at the residence.
  • Schedule staff working schedules.
  • Arrange and/or provide direct care for the individuals during day time hours when at SR (Between 8am-4pm).
  • Arrange and/or be available for back-up or shift coverage in case of an emergency.
  • Identify and schedule staff training needs.
  • Monitor staff trainings and active trainings with the individuals.
  • Identify and report maintenance needs of the residence.
  • Oversee maintenance and repairs of the residence/van on site.
  • Maintain a “home-like” atmosphere at the residence.
  • Follow up on incident reports, medication issues.
  • Report legitimate complaints to supervisor(s).
  • Prevent/report abuse, neglect, and/or exploitation.  *Staff have a legal responsibility to report any form of abuse (physical, emotional, sexual), neglect, and/or exploitation.
  • Interview and have input into the hiring of new staff.
  • Complete staff evaluations in a timely manner.
  • Assist staff in resolving any complaints and/or concerns they may have.
  • Coordinate monthly staff residence meetings.
  • Prepare menus, grocery lists, purchase items as needed, complete and turn in paperwork timely, attend meetings as requested by the Residential Supervisor.
