Job Description

Functions as an advanced subject matter expert and a high-level academic business leader in driving the education and successful outcomes of students. This position is an executive leader responsible for developing and executing WGU’s vision, strategy and focus for the indicated program(s). In collaboration with college and university leadership, other departments, and other WGU organizations, you will have end-to-end responsibility of (a) growing your programs with new, market relevant, and innovative competency based program offerings, (b) identifying and supporting the implementation industry partnerships and go-to-market strategies to bring the right students and employers to these programs, and (c) delivering great educational outcomes for these students by directly managing the instructional faculty, faculty chair positions, and other leadership positions through leveraging coaching and mentoring to drive student success. Your success will be measured in terms of planning, building, delivering and scaling the right programs profitably that cater to our underserved student population with a high-level of retention and ROI for the students. This role is a thought-leader both internally and external to WGU and is seen as an industry leader representing WGU program(s) and school(s).

 

  • Defines and implements the academic and programming strategy for assigned the assigned program(s) to achieve the long-term department and university vision and goals

  • Develops and monitors and continuously improves all domain-specific academic performance standards, compliance, and requirements, including (but not limited to): curricular, assessment, faculty quality and sufficiency, national licensure examination requirements

  • Develops and monitors, measures, and continuously improves domain-specific curriculum performance against targeted student outcomes (including: learning impacts, student success impacts, efficiency, innovation)

  • Owns area fiscal performance and operations with emphasis on profit/loss management in managing significant program funding; focus on achieving WGU contribution margins and net new student growth

  • Leads program marketing in launching new and revised programs into the education market and operating programs using data and insights; data-driven portfolio management experience

  • Drives a culture of continuous experimentation, measurement, and learning from data to rapidly improve the quality and delivery to students

  • Continuously strives for success in directly or indirectly leading a diverse team of people including program managers, instructional faculty, chair/leadership positions and student coaches/mentors
