About the role

Position Overview

The General Laborer performs miscellaneous plant duties including direct and indirect production tasks. Direct supervision is always available.

Responsibilities

  • Assist machine operators to keep orders running. 
  • Assist in reporting of time, production and material usage. 
  • Other general duties may include stacking or feeding machines, bundling, and banding.
  • Assist with quality checks. 
  • Report irregularities, maintenance needs and quality problems to the machine operator, Supervisor and/or Production Manager. 
  • Ability to use a ruler and verify dimensions on material. 
  • The ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure.
  • Keeps plant and work area clean and orderly. 
  • Written and oral communication skills is required.
  • Other job tasks and projects as assigned.

Qualifications

  • A high school diploma or equivalent is required. 
  • Three (3) months of experience in a manufacturing setting.
  • Good human relations skills and strong verbal communication skills are required.

Physical Demands

Employees are frequently required to stand and repetitively use arms, hands, and fingers to handle, feel and/or reach product.  Employees are occasionally required to walk, climb, or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl.  The employee must be able to regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds; and frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
