Staff Psychologist (Veterans Living Center) - PRN $90.00 per hour

Pay: $90.00 per hour. PRN position. 

Summary: Psychologist for the Veterans Community Living Center (VCLC). The psychologist's primary duties involve assisting with the development of the person- centered care models. Services include facilitation of psychosocial assessments and provision of high-quality case management, individual psychotherapy, clinical treatment, crisis intervention, advocacy, and coordination of referral to other appropriate community services providers/agencies, as needed by the resident.

Essential Functions:

· Provides psychological assessment and diagnostic services for Veterans with a broad range of psychopathology. 

· Demonstrates expertise in using a contemporary interview and psychometric assessment methods for mental disorders and/or behavioral health conditions.

· Provides education to resident and family members regarding mental disorders and best practices approaches to treatment.

· Provides evidence-based psychotherapeutic interventions as indicated and appropriate for the specific job setting and duties of the psychologist, which may include individual, family, and group psychotherapy and psychoeducation.

· Provides consultation to health care providers about assessment findings and treatment plan for residents to ensure that care is coordinated, collaborative, and integrated within the Living Center.

· Develops, implements, and documents the mental health treatment plan for an assigned caseload of patients, as indicated and appropriate for the specific job setting and duties of the psychologist.

· Complies with all documentation requirements, including standards for timely completion of patient contact notes, use of required documentation templates, clinical reminders, treatment plans, and risk assessment protocols.

· Adheres to all Facility policies and practices for delivering clinical care, including but not limited to risk assessment and reduction practices for potentially dangerous behavior (suicide and violence), timeliness of care and access standards and professional conduct requirements. Achieves clinical workload expectations as established by the Facility.

· Maintains current knowledge of, and practices in accordance with state and federal requirements.

· Additional duties assigned as needed.

Requirements

Minimum Required Education/Experience: 

· Doctor of Psychology (PsyD) or Doctor of Clinical Psychology (PhD) degree required. 

Licensure/Certification

· Licensed by the Colorado Board of Psychology. Valid state psychologist license. 

Pre-Employment Knowledge, Abilities and Skills: 

• Diagnose mental disorders.
• Conduct psychological or neuropsychological assessments.
• Treat mental disorders through individual, family, & group psychotherapy, utilizing Evidence Based Treatments.
• Perform formal and informal assessments for a wide variety of patient conditions and diagnoses, including mental illness, substance abuse and general emotional & cognitive functioning.
• Ensure the assessment and care provided accommodate to the cognitive, emotional, chronological maturation, & diversity needs of the person served.
• Provide a full range of therapeutic interventions with a strong emphasis on evidence-based models of care in the outpatient mental health setting.
• Conduct assessments appropriate to individual patients with attention to the implications of test results for a resident's every-day, real-world function & successful treatment/management of health problems with an emphasis on behavioral health factors associated with improved quality of life.
• Provide psychoeducation to patients & family members to support healthcare adherence & relapse prevention.
• Consult and coordinate care with community providers following HIPPA practices to support psychosocial recovery of the person served.
• Provide clinical supervision to health professions trainees and unlicensed psychologists.
• Participate in program development tasks, as assigned.
• Assume responsibility for timely completion of all clinical charting and documentation.
• Maintain ongoing scholarly and self-education activities.
• Serve on committees or workgroups, as assigned.

Necessary Special Requirements: Must obtain annual flu vaccination and any job-specific immunizations. Required to complete tuberculosis screening process. 

Unusual Demands: Work is subject to recurring and inflexible deadlines and frequent interruptions. Position is required to talk call for department support during non-regular work hours.
