Job Summary:

The Director of Strategic Sourcing is a senior leadership role responsible for driving enterprise-wide sourcing initiatives that deliver measurable value. This position leads a team of sourcing professionals focused exclusively on high-impact, cross-functional sourcing projects. The Director will serve as a strategic advisor and project leader, partnering closely with internal stakeholders to define sourcing strategies, lead complex negotiations, and ensure successful execution of sourcing initiatives.

This role leads sourcing projects across a wide variety of spend categories—including all direct, indirect, logistics, and services categories across the company. While deep expertise in every category is not required, the ideal candidate is a quick study with demonstrated experience across a broad range of spend areas. 

Responsibilities

  • Lead a team of strategic sourcing professionals in the execution of high-impact, cross-functional sourcing projects across all direct, indirect, logistics, and services categories.
  • Define and document a world-class strategic sourcing process, leveraging existing structures and templates while continuously improving tools, templates, and methodologies.
  • Develop and maintain a robust sourcing project funnel in collaboration with category management and procurement excellence teams, including kickoff scheduling, team formation, charter development, and goal setting.
  • Create and implement negotiation planning templates and best practices to support consistent, high-quality negotiation execution across sourcing projects.
  • Drive stakeholder engagement throughout the sourcing lifecycle, ensuring alignment of business needs, transparency of process, and adoption of sourcing outcomes.
  • Develop and deliver training programs to enhance sourcing, negotiation, and project management capabilities across sourcing specialists, category managers, and internal stakeholders.
  • Establish and track sourcing performance metrics, including project progress, value delivery, and funnel health.
  • Develop tools and processes for team capacity planning and resource allocation to ensure optimal deployment of sourcing talent.
  • Coach and mentor the sourcing team in project management and stakeholder engagement to drive efficiency, accountability, and professional growth.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with legal, finance, operations, and business units to ensure sourcing strategies align with enterprise goals and risk management practices.
  • Implement world-class strategic sourcing processes to optimize procurement operations.
  • Plan and execute negotiations to secure favorable terms and conditions with suppliers.
  • Conduct financial analysis to support sourcing decisions and identify cost-saving opportunities.
  • Train and mentor team members to enhance their skills and capabilities.
  • Provide strong leadership and guidance to team members, including those not directly reporting to you, to ensure high performance and collaboration.

You Have: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, Engineering, Finance, or a related field from an accredited institution 
  • Minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in strategic sourcing, procurement, or supply chain management
  • At least 5 years of experience leading sourcing projects with cross-functional teams
  • Demonstrated experience across a broad range of spend categories, including direct, indirect, logistics, and services
  • Experience working in corporate procurement environments, with exposure to enterprise-level sourcing strategies and governance
  • Proven ability to operate in global or multi-regional contexts, collaborating with stakeholders and suppliers across multiple geographies
