We’re working onsite 5 days a week as part of our commitment to fostering a culture of professional growth and cross-functional collaboration as we work together to engineer the extraordinary.Medtronic Tempe Campus (MTC) is looking for a Senior Electrical Engineer to work in the Product Analysis Lab (PAL) to perform electrical and physical failure analysis on microelectronic systems and components supporting products in Development, Manufacturing Operations, and in the Field. An ideal candidate for this position will be a collaborative, self-motivated individual with an understanding of electrical circuits and their components, hands-on experience with failure analysis tools, and willingness to use chemicals. The candidate must have strong problem solving and analytic skills in addition to excellent written and oral communication competencies.
Responsibilities may include the following and other duties may be assigned.
Electrical troubleshooting of microelectronic systems and components using instruments such as power supplies, digital multimeters, oscilloscopes, and function generators.
Analyzing digital and analog circuits and discrete components such as microprocessors, analog-to-digital converters, resistors, capacitors, and diodes.
Using physical analysis equipment such as optical, digital microscopy, and photon emission microscopy, and real-time x-ray to inspect samples.
Using mechanical and chemical equipment to destructively modify samples during analysis.
Writing technical reports upon the completion of an analysis request.
Presenting analysis data to requestors, subject matter experts, and leadership.
Required Knowledge and Experience: Requires a Baccalaureate degree and minimum of 4 years of relevant experience OR Master's degree with a minimum of 2 years relevant experience OR PhD with 0 years relevant experience.
Preferred Qualifications (Nice to Have):
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering
Working knowledge of electrical circuits and their components
Effective Analytical Skills for problem-solving and evaluation
Proficiency in Technical Writing and creating detailed reports
Effective communication skills for collaboration and report-outs
Computer skills to include emails, spreadsheet manipulation, and database/systems navigation including familiarity with Microsoft tools - Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Teams.
Effective in both team-based and self-directed work environments
For Baccalaureate degrees earned outside of the United States, a degree that satisfies the requirements of 8 C.F.R. § 214.2(h)(4)(iii)(A) is required.
